Why, time after time am I seeing more people ripping, or cutting out there thermostats in their LS1's ?
Even my ute I just purchased didn't have one in the housing.
I understand the purpose of it essentially, but in todays cars, there is fuck all point removing it all together

Removing it all together would do more harm than good, no? Would extend the time it takes to reach normal operating temp, thus increasing wear on moving parts.

No, they are a double acting thermostat aswell which can lead to further probs so removing realy isnt an option.

Thats why I don't understand why so many have been cut out, it makes no sense to me at all. It's there for a reason, sure they play up, but they are under $50 to replace. I've honestly replaced over more than 10 this year due to them being MIA

The later one are cheap as they are just the thermostat, the early one are exxy.as.its the housing aswell, maybe peeps are cheap and wont fork out. When doin a rad i like to change to a new tstat as wellbut o- these i ask if they want to coz $120 odd bucks aint cheap.

I replaced the one in my VZ the other day, and that was the whole housing, for $40, genuine parts.
I know the VT to VY had a wider thermostat, so maybe they were the more costly ones.
Oh well, least none of you tried defending it haha
