Hey all,
Last night one of my good mates had his '05 BA Ford GT stolen from his house. He had the car for sale (advertised in the Quokka and the Sunday Times) and a middle aged bloke called him up to come around for a look/test drive. Showed up last night at my mates house with a friend, both well dressed and looked early 30's. My mate said everything seamed really legit, guy chatted to him for 15 minutes about the car, had a good look around, then went for a test drive (my mate drove). All still good. Came back and parked the car in the drive way. Started chatting again and talking price and then all of a sudden the guy shoved my mate in the throat and slammed him on the ground, grabbed the keys, jumped in, and tore off down the street. My mate jumped up and chased the guys mate back to his vehicle, but couldn't get to him before he jumped in, locked the doors and drove off.
My mate then obviously called his family, and the cops to report it. However as his sister was driving home she spotted his car travelling south on the free way and followed it. The guy was driving calmly. Managed to keep up with it all the way to Rockingham, where she lost it at a set of lights.
Car is insured, but likely to be 2-3k less than what he'd have sold it for.
If you do happen to spot a Shockwave BA GT please let me know. I'll post plates as soon as I know.
Apologies for the essay, but though I'd give everyone a little reminder to be vigilant when selling cars so they don't fall victim to scum like this.
