Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with it yet ?
I have a 5d Mk 2 and wondering if its worth the upgrade. Love the Mk2 but thinking of getting either the Mk3 and making the Mk2 or going the 7d as a backup and just continue with the Mk2 as main.

Been considering this myself, mainly because of the the upgrade to 61 af point compared with the 9 points on the 5d2. Would really come in handy for the type of photography i do. I dont think its worth the extra $1000 for landscape photogs though.

Have used it a few times and can definitely say if you do weddings, events or anything that requires AF at all, worth the upgrade. On top of that the new processor has really stepped it up a notch in ISO quality. At a rough guide if I filmed video at 3200 ISO on a MK II, it's nearly the same as 10,000 on the MK III.
One thing to note is that Canon have admitted the camera has light leaks, so will be interesting to see if they do a recall or not. Firmware upgrades don't exactly fix light leaks. This is rarely a problem though. I've used it in practise in a few different scenarios and it's held up - definitely an upgrade for sports/wedding/event photogs currently on a MK II/7D.
The image below is between 8-10,000 ISO at full MP, can't remember exactly, I think 8K. Mind you it can probably be better noise quality that what I've shown. The menu setup especially in ISO and AF settings is pretty in depth and I didn't go into it as much as I should have.

I was looking at upgrading from the 7D to it, however, the lack of on-camera flash has made it less interesting... bottom line I'll keep my 1D mkIV for studio/car shoots and the 7D for a smaller/travel cam... probably upgrade to the 7DII when that comes out as it'll be approaching 5D territory by then...

Hmmm thanks for the heads up on the light leak. but is that only when the light display is turned on at night? BTW do you guys have any in stock atm at CE?
Been reading on a few forums that if you have a crop sensor cannon and want to upgrade to a full frame then its worth to get the 5DMK3
If you already got the 5DMK2 then might not be worst it not until the price goes down a bit.
And some Cannon 5D users are making the switch to D800 :S which is what I'm saving up for eventually get i'll get it

I just want it cause i shares the same AF system as the 1Dx. Also read from some independant tests from a motorsport event that the AF is up to par if not better then the 1D IV. May hire it first to do my own tests.

The 5D2 does everything I need and more so there are better things to spend money on for my purposes.

Yeah that's right. See here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer?pageKeyCode=prdAdvDetail&docId=0901e02480538fc7&WT.mc_id=C126149
None in stock and not for a while. 2 rental units for the MK III. Same as D800, Still fulfilling backorders and while that's happening more people are paying deposits and joining the waiting list. AF on the MK III is seriously worth the upgrade from a MK II. I've also used the PP 1DX and that has an even better AF system, as it should. The 1DX has a dedicated processor for the AF system and MK III has one processor for everything, and also a little less shutter lag on the 1DX.

Could probably do 10% off that's about it. It's only like $165 from Fri til Monday off the top of my head. email me brandon@cameraelectronic.com.au if you want me to check if it's available etc.
And Canon aren't doing a recall on the light leak issue, it only happens with certain serial number combinations and in extreme rare operating settings (very high ISO settings)
