They say drop 5, save lives, as you have more time to decelerate. All this really does is increase the chances of something getting in your way. If I'm doing 50km/h, that will take me 5.4 seconds to go 75m . If I'm doing the suggested safe speed of 300km/h, it will take me 0.9 seconds for 75m. There's 500% more time for something to walk out in front of me.

If it was Australia it would have hit either a tree or a light pole that was 1m from the side of the road. Amazing luck, but I bet if they tested it 100 times people would die in 99 of them.
