I'm looking to purchase a wide angle point and shoot type camera that I can leave in my glove box/detailing bag. I've already got a DSLR and it's just not practical to bring to jobs.

Looking to spend no more than say $300. I have mentioned wide angle as I find myself crammed into corners of people's garages, driveways and parking lots (this will only be used for taking shots of cars/parts/engine bays/interiors etc).

98% of the pics will end up posted on the net with the odd one or two printed for my portfolio of work/given to a customer.

Recommendations?

The widest fixed lens compact/ultra compact you are going to get is 24mm.

I'd get the IXUS125 personally. http://www.dpreview.com/products/canon/compacts/canon_ixus125hs

Very happy with my Leica V-Lux 20 which is basically an overpriced but better looking Panasonic DMC-TZ10 using Leica's algorithms. I really like what Panasonic are doing camera wise and here's a link below with a few models having wide angle lenses of 24-25mm.

Ads, I have my old very decent Canon Powershot Pro 1.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/CanonPro1/

• 7x optical zoom "L-series"
• 28 - 200 mm equiv.
• F2.4 - F3.5
• Records 640 x 480 movie

Cost $1600+ when new.

Comes with battery, charger, cables - same as current Canon SLR's plus I'll chuck in some Compact Flash cards, carry bag etc

You're welcome to try first.
