Friday 13th - Full Face Helmets - Save your face.

hey guys,

Mainly for those who actually ride motorbikes/scooters... full face helmets are a good idea as I found out on Black Friday myself.
I can only imagine what parts of my face would still be on the road if I didn't wear that helmet after avoiding a collision with a car but falling off my 250 scooter.

I believe after my knees made full contact with the road first, then my face would have been next - both with the road and then with the kerb as seen by the two decent scuff marks on the HJC sticker and above.
Unfortunately I didn't own any motorbike pants (will be the next purchase after a new helmet when Im good enough to ride again), apart from that many other parts of my limbs were saved by the protective gear - jacket, gloves and boots.

We would have also got t-boned on the same day with a dude almost running a red - after he's already stopped, then took off again.. wtf?

I've never been a very suspicious person, friday 13th never has been a bad day for me until last friday - next one i might stay home hehe.

you are very lucky in regards to the helmet ... maybe buy a lotto ticket.

Yep, can't beleive people ride around withoutt he proper protective gear. Chicks on scooters in thongs, tank tops, dresses, no gloves and open face helmets. They come off at even 40km/hr, they are gonna get fucked up.

Yeah, the amount of times I see guys in shorts and tshirts with passengers also in shorts/skirts/tshirts, after friday I'm even more amazed.
I had to get a tetanus shot and some antibiotics for the knees because of the gravel/bitumen made decent dents in my knees.

I came off I think at about 50 and I recon if I had some proper motorbike jeans i would only be bruised. I definitely don't mind spending the extra $ on some extra gear.. especially now.

Some people are retarded with what the ride in, especially scooters. Seen first hand the result of T-shirt and cargo pants coming off at 130+. Not pretty.

Seen full leathers come off at well over 200, walked away (Missed trees n shit out of pure luck)

there's many good quality non-leather jackets and pants made not to disintegrate like a normal pair of jeans or a t-shirt :)

LOL maybe i should of use italic! i ride and gear up 99% of the time. even when i don't where a jacket im still wearing my Astar boots, gloves and back protector lol.

my $80 causal jeans held up pretty well in my 50/60km/hr crash when i was hit by a car only had afew scratches on my knees. Don't see the point of kevlar jeans most reports i have read people get burn by them when they come off and still don't stop you from getting bruises!

I agree... 50cc can still get up to 70kms and will fall as hard as a big bike. my 250 is about 176kg dry weight and skidded for about 10-15m.

this rear foot peg was round.. its like someone cut it off with a grinder.

yikes haha have seen some douche on a harley riding wearing no helmet white singlet and shorts and thongs also a guy dressed the same on a sport bike of some sort!!
