Anyone use a local courier company that they are happy with? We are dealing with a mob at the moment that have let us down 2 weeks running so need to make a move.

We send anything from a tiny box in a front seat of a car to 8 pallets on a flat bed depending on the job.

If you have any companies to recommend I'll get them in and see what they can do for us.

Cheers.

bit biased as i worked there for over 4years. but i never had any of my own shit lost. WA Freight. - might cost a little more but it's worth it.

In the past few months i have had upteen problems with other courier companies. infact im having one now with rightway courriers (tnt) who managed to loose some new dba rotors between the warehouse and my house. still chasing it up 2 fuckign weeks later.

Will give them a shot but they sound more suited to interstate type jobs?? We use TNT, Startrack etc. for that sort of stuff but this is for a local courier service.

Need a company that can pick up a box from here and drop it to another store or off to site etc within say 3-5 hours. Currently using Kings transport but not getting the service we are after.

Use mercury couriers for perth, and dhl for interstate + overseas, both work really well.

+1 for Mercury. We use them at work for parcels that need to be somewhere within the metro area within 3 hours. I think cutoff is around 3pm for same day delivery

maybe try Civic Transport, have used the a few times before at last place i worked at. maybe also Red Hot, Action etc. they'd be the only ones that'd do it in 3 - 5 hours, most of the others especially TNT etc will be overnight.

Direct Couriers. I used to work for them, they're pretty good.

Digging up an old thread, kind of related.

Pep Courier driver walks into the health food shop where I work to make a delivery, was chatting to him and tells me a work mate of his (contractor) quit his job recently because he was only making $4000 a week. I thought he was kidding, but he wasn't...

He says there is decent money if you own your own transport. Weekend work and long distance work especially. I said what the hell is point in spending 3-4 years going to get a degree etc when there are jobs like this out there. He said a lot of the people who are in that industry actually have degrees but do are doing courier driving because it pays better. I guess there is job satisfaction and all but is this for real? No skill or training required whatsoever... $4000 a week before tax? Or is this guy on the crack pipe too much?

He wasn't talking about a ute, more like a 3 tonner.

no fucking way. i was doing this work and with you're own transport you would take home $1100 on a good week, after expenses for you're vehicle and super, rdos, sickies, annual leave etc.

2k a week isnt unheard of for van drivers, but as you said.. you have to pay for everything!
