either a crime of opportunity if somebody broke into the workshop OR somebody went a heap out of their way to get it ... how many people that you know, knew it was going there?

Very odd to have known it was going to be left in the dyno room.
Must have something in it to be worth going to all that effort to steal.

BRANT is the factory STI keypad, for anyone who doesn't know

It has the factory keypad, the code is most likely left with the key..

Just had new turbo and all usual bolt ons installed, clutch upgrade, VIPEC, cams etc done.

Finished tuning/working the car yesterday, didn't even get to drive it.

Strange to say but hopefully it is completely done while it's being driven around. What area was it seen around??

I chased it along with a camry with smashed back window with natives in it also from ballajura to the nyoongar community on Sydney road out back of gnangara lake..while waiting outside with nic (on ph directing the not so helpful police to where it is) it came out with more bodies and was chased again by others and police thru mirrabooka balga etc...

My guess is it will end up at pines on Sydney road end today, close to home...

Workshops have insurance, it would come under that

esky
27-03-2012, 04:21 PM
The vehicle would be covered under the owners policy, that's assuming they have insurance.

Jimmy_S
27-03-2012, 04:25 PM
no it wouldn't.

Why wouldn't it? If a vehicle is under their care, shouldn't it be covered by their insurance?

Worst case, the owners insurance will cover it, and I'm sure ASG will be willing to cover the excess?

edit: quote changed

esky
27-03-2012, 04:32 PM
lets assume there is no insurance on the vehicle, why would allstars insurance then cover it?

look at toms car, stolen from impound, his insurance is picking it up.

If allstar have done nothing negligent then there not liable for anything.

Mad_Aussie
27-03-2012, 04:36 PM
Interesting - not that I know much about the subject, I would have thought that would be true if the car were outside, but if it was stolen from inside the building, I was under the impression then it's the businesses insurance that would cover it. In the same way that if the building burned down, the vehicles would be covered. ?

esky
27-03-2012, 04:37 PM
Most workshops will have insurance to cover it, but usually stuff like this gets claimed on the owners policy.

I'm presuming the key was left in/on the car, that can show negligence. If it was stolen from outside either of their buildings they can argue the fact as in it's not much different from being stolen anywhere. But from actually inside is different

Tom's insurance may be covering his car at the moment, but they will be reimbursed by AAAC, that's pretty much how it always works with insurance

Your making the assumption that a workshop is at fault in a theft. They arn't, the boongs are.

ossie_21
27-03-2012, 05:05 PM
Where did I say it was their fault? You said if they didn't show negligence they aren't liable, I only pointed out where something may be taken as negligence from the insurers point of view

Rhys
27-03-2012, 05:12 PM
according to Deb (WAPerf) most workshop insurance policies dont cover theft, only fire. If the car is stolen it comes under the vehicle owners policy

Im not trying to start a shit fight.. I feel sick for the op and asg, and firmly beleive its the fuckn coon at fault and no-one else.. Im just curious to find out where the owner stands in this situation. Ive nevere had my car in a work shop for anything other than a tune (done that day while im there) but this is a nightmare situation.

Traitor
27-03-2012, 05:38 PM
Car is insured so will definitely be covered privately, after 14 days if its not recovered will be paid out.

Car had quite a few aftermarket parts on, its the only reason you'd want it recovered.

Debate whether ASG insurance covers it or not has been thrown around on few other forums, but at this stage looks like not.

Its sort of okay since its privately insured, but that doesn't take into the account all the new mods its copped :(

Also agreed its a completely fucked situation where car owner / ASG aren't at fault.

What happens from here insurance wise? Who knows, will at least get the basic payout from private insurance.

Considering the area it was spotted (down Sydney Rd), and filling up at that peak a couple of km's down the road, might be a good idea for the owner to sit somewhere along Sydney Rd in a car (fast enough to catch/keep up) when it's getting dark & keeping an eye out for it. Although it's been spotted during the day, as far as vehicle noise & lights goes, it would be easier to spot & they might be more likely to be driving it around this time. Just a suggestion anyway :)

27-03-2012, 06:24 PM

Traitor

Owner is up in Derby at the moment. Will def be able to hear it when gate cracks opened and the coons are hurting it.

I would go sit up on Sydney Road and wait all day but I have a full time job.

No idea about paying / insurance etc. Don't even know full story. He will be back soon and then will sort all this shieet out.

we don't spend a dickload of time and money making our cars how WE want them only just to say 'meh insurance will cover it'. Maybe if you have a dickload of cash to throw around and don't care if your car got stolen and raped. In my case, it was a car that i fuckin loved. I'm still fuckin bitter about it and i don't think ill ever say 'meh, insurance will cover it'. Its there to help and is worth it, but not in a case when the car is written off.

@OP; if the vehicle is paid out and unrecovered but recovered at a later date, do you get first option to buy it back? I'd assume (providing the parts aren't flogged out and shit) that at least this may lessen the amount of money lost?

Run the car off the road in to some trees... It's not like you want it back and hopefully the coons die. A bloke from work had his Rodeo stolen from his house in Mandurah, spotted it, chased it *saw the coons loose control, roll it and did not add to their injuries before the cops / ambo's turned up*, the coon driving somehow actually ripped his foot clean off in the accident and is now a cripple, they all got arrested and charged as they were to fucked up to run away.

Bloke got a new car and a bit of bush justice. Win ?

This is normal.
Say your car is insured for $30,000.
Less pro rated amount of outstanding insurance to anniversary date.
= Payout

But at this stage DO NOT BANK THAT CHEQUE

100% correct, the excess may have been deducted as well, given at this stage the responsible 3rd party has not been identified/confirmed. If someone is later held responsible for it, you can get your excess back.

Do some calculations and see if that makes sense :)
