Hey All,

After having an unsavoury experience with having my motorbike stolen the other month I completed a group by of GPS tracking devices for cars/bikes. These arrived the other week and are working really well for everyone that has received and setup the devices so far. I was talking with one of the guys that bought some of the units and mentioned there would be a fair bit of interest from the car groups on getting these devices as well.

Since I’m a nice guy like that I’ve decided to help out the community and post this on a few different forums and get another group by together with an order being placed two weeks from now.

These units are seriously cheap insurance against having your pride and joy stolen and not being recovered.

The device is going to cost $80 each shipped to my door then you will need to purchase the sim + app yourself and complete the install (wire up power to battery). I’ve done all the research all you need to do is hand over the cash and I’ll get an order together.

Pretty much total cost of the package would be
Unit: $80
App: $4 (if you want it)
Sim card: $40 (one off)
Monthly cost: $1 plus any SMS’s etc you send/receive from the device.

CHEEEEEP!

The App: http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/gps-tracker-control-tk102/id417801491?mt=8 (Free for Android)

The TPG Plan: http://www.tpg.com.au/mobile/plans.php#mobilepayg

How to order:
Shoot me a PM on here with your Full Name, Email and contact phone number.
Once details are received I’ll shoot you an email with the bank account information to transfer the money to
Once I’ve reached min order of 30 devices and the 3rd of April the order will be placed.
Devices will generally arrive in Perth within two weeks of order being placed.

Summary: This device works based on existing GSM/GPRS networks and GPS satellites. It can locate any remote target by SMS or GPRS.

Features:
Support working without a positioning platform.
Automatically locate, report the position at preset intervals// Traceable historical position geo-info.
Get the real-time info and manually input lati-&-longitude to position.
Low battery alert, emergency alert, vibration alert.
Report the last location when entering a place without GPS signals, i.e. underground parking.
Covert alert
Power and signal indicator
Automatically start the power saving mode at idle state.
Geo-fence: Restrict the movements within district.
Voice Surveillance, the user can dial up the unit to monitor the voice.

Q&A

Q: Does the device come with the connector for the battery
A: No, the device only comes with the plug for the wires you need to attach to the battery/power source your self

Q: What if someone cuts power to my bike/car
A: Device has a battery backup and will be good for a week without power when fully charged

Q: Will the device work without being able to directly see the sky
A: Yes, the device works off GPRS as well as GPS so will work. Please make sure it can be close to a window and is not in the boot as completely surrounded by metal will stop it from working well.

Q: Can you track more than one device
A: Sure can, just sms or call the device for its current location

Q: Can you run an external antenna
A: Not with this device as its small form factor, larger model devices can but are less conspicuous

Q: What if I don’t pick up the device from you in 12 months like Brockers and the line locker group buy?
A: After last time if you don’t get your device from me within 6 months, I’ll on sell it to someone else and say thanks for the cash

No warranty on the units but they are tested out of the factory to confirm sim slot and chip are working.

Pics are here:

If you struggle to get 30, I'm pretty sure I've been looking at the same unit via a different group buy, that doesn't have minimum numbers to get about the same (or slightly less) price

EDIT: different unit (lower model)

5m accuracy... Stuff that, you could forget where you parked, use it to find your car and then get bashed while you are trying to stick you key in a car 2 bays down.

Could be keen still but.

It's not even that part that's gay. It's the part where you seem to forget what your car looks like leading you to try and open someone else's seemingly identical looking car...

Besides the point, I'm pretty interested. It's really cheap insurance to know where your car could be if it gets stolen and then possibly recovered.

Nah, the gay bit is that you both were to busy licking each others butt holes that you couldn't detect some sarcastic humour....
