if it's your first car, then you are in the 16-18 year old age range (assumption).
get some rims, lower it, tint ... and maybe a little tidy up ... keep it stock = reliable... you are young and probably like driving a working car / keeping your money to spend on other things.
plus a reliable car means you don't have to worry about the juvie bitches you pickup having to bus it home... as end of the day, that's the reason they hop in the car, as it's > bus
What tocchi said. First car needs to be kept reliable yet looking good

thanks guys,
in regards to lowering the car, should i be looking at coilovers or just get some SSL king springs or something?
Probably have to go coilovers as there wont be alot of support for it in Aus.
BC do coilovers for MX83 ect may try your luck...

Not every one did, I heated my with an oxy until I had the desired height. :)

First car?
Take it to RAC Driving Centre on the skidpan and have fun with it.
See what areas need to improve, learn characteristics of car and have fun with it - legally.
Once you got a basis of how it is then start to modify it: you might think you want to do brakes and (wheels and) tyres before suspension

Fuck yeah! Smash some pics up, i want to see it.
Join Toyota Cressida forums as there is a lot of information with regards to MX83/X81. The MX83 and X81 chassis are basically identicle.
As for lowering, coilovers for MX83 will fit (same chassis deal) and will set you back at least 700 for second handers. Coilover brands include Megan, BC, Serial Nine, Emotion, JIC and possibly HSD and can get brand new from all of these except JIC. If you want a cheaper method, i have some King springs that will do the trick. If you want new springs get Cressida front and Corona Wagon rear.

Get it looking good no real point spending much money on the engine, then when you can afford it if you still want to keep it drop in a 1j/2j and manual conversion. I highly doubt those k's are real it would of been winded back, if not I want it!

+1 - X81s are always welcomed there and one as clean as yours is probably going to be worshipped, TC.net is more like X-chassis.net and X8s are the most popular.

Also +1.
Epically clean! Finding one like this, especially all original (by the looks of it) is getting pretty hard to do, it's already a 5 speed? (edit: yes it is just saw your showcase thread, nevermind).
If you want some aftermarket wheels check out Otomoto. Not sure what WA has in terms of wheel shops but Otomoto has some sweet 17" Rays multi-spokes for only $200 at the moment, stock always changes and prices are always good. Your wheel choices are quite limited without coilovers and/or guard work in an X8 chassis but King Springs with some less balloon-like tyres still gives them a really smooth and comfortable ride but a lot more controllable, I've got Kings in my MX83 with 215/45/17s.
