Afternoon all,

I submitted an entry form for a Viva photo shoot at this year’s Motorvation and won.

The voucher is for a free vehicle photo shoot ($250) and $100 credit towards a resulting photo.

The cheapest product is an unframed A4 size photo valued at $275! I received a reminder call from them today as the voucher expires on the 14th March 2012 and the girl who called stated that most vehicle owners spend between $500-$2000 on their photos! I know they sit down with you and edit the shots taken but come on, these prices seem a bit rich? They also only provide a digital copy of the photo you buy which I understand but I would prefer copies of all images taken.

I thought it would be a good way to remember the Datsun by before I sold it.

Not really sure if it’s bloody worth it.

Anyone done this or have any more information on it?

Back when i was with my High School sweet heart, 7 odd years ago, she won a free photoshoot with them. Was pretty good day getting the pics and shit done, even though i hate having my picture taken. Then they edited them and did a pretty spesh job. Then they told us pricing. BAM. Shit's not cheap. I think i got one A4 sized photo. And she got two, but mainly because we felt we should after they put all that time and effort in.

that's why they give out vouchers. to get you in the door.
We went to the Joondalup one and it was pretty good. Lots of pics taken but as you say, expensive.

Seems like you will only have to pay a fraction of the total cost so i'd say use it and get a pic that will last.

Your confused mate, I only get $100 credit towards the best shot. The $250 is the cost of the photo shoot itself which the voucher covers. Total voucher value is $350.

Ill have to think about it, its a lot of bloody money, $175 it will cost me for the cheapest photo print. I would rather pay for all the digital copies and just keep them on my computer.

I asked the girl if i could have/buy the digitals and she said no. But offered me the photo album package....... $2000!

ahhh, in that case, tear it up. You could probably get one of the pro photographers on here to take a few happy snaps for a carton of booze.

I'll do it for a bag of goon, get some juvies to lay over your car with their 'diva' bracelets running smoothly along the paint aswell?

My wife years ago one of these supposed "competitions". After she won it, they constantly called and harrased her to make a booking. So make it clear you do not want it.

All it is is a clever hook to get you in the door. Once you have your session you find out that the cheapest session is more than what the voucher is for. Just beware of any competitions you enter at shopping centres (ie Roller Shutters, Homestart etc) as they use it for maketing purposes.

Any sample photos that they've taken of cars? Keen to see what kind of results they produce for the asking price.

If you do it, try to find one of Gary Levy's Viva franchises. You won't be disappointed, the man is a true professional

I hope those are before post production... Dirty marks on infinity backdrop, car merges with background and white balance is all over the shop.

The curb damaged rims are a nice touch too.

I have no fear to say this, the photos from this place are fucking atrocious!
The cost is a joke, the studio set up is a joke, the photos are a joke and the quality of goods is so sub standard it is frightening.
The person who does their processing and re-touching has absolutey no fucking clue with either, and as you can see from the piss poor example the photos are blown out to the shit house!
I have done one full on studio shoot myself; I did it whilst I was over at Summernats with Streetmachine and it took me six hours to get through it all. The main image then became the centre poster.
What is displayed in these shots is a person with absolutely no knowledge on how to use lighting or a studio correctly. I have been given a rundown on how they shoot the cars by a friend' who watched a shoot in process and even they were in awe of how bad it was.
I wouldn't waste my time or money on this and for those interested, some day soon I will be doing personal shoots for customers as I have been asked on numerous occasions to do so. I just need some time!

I'll have to start charging more for private (non studio) shoots if Viva can get away with it!

There seems to be a very inconsistent level of quality on their site...some horrible and some just average.

For a decent one, a Viva one shouldn't be!

lol at those shots of the commodore utter shit, white balance doesn't match and like the other guy said car blends into the background and you can see the joint in the backdrop fail!
