not sure if should post here or off topic but.....

I'm looking for a good camping swag/stretcher with some form of net attachment/roof.

Wondering if any of the 4x4 guys have any recommendations.

looking at something like this

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kamp-Rite-OVERSIZE-King-Single-Camping-Tent-Cot-/220950795789?pt=AU_Tents&hash=item3371b1960d

Anyone used these or this brand before ?

need something that can last ~10 years
and be used fairly often as i do a lot of camping with work
I'm 6'3" so need something to accommodate that too

any recommendations ?

i bought my swag from BCF a few years ago. it was around 160 and is just the normal swag that ties to a tree. a mate at work got a custom swag made by a canvas maker in malaga i think it was for around 300 and it is awesome. he is pretty tall and he fits in it with no problems. has a fly net and a small fibreglass rod to keep it off his face while he is sleeping. most swags will last well over 10 years if they are looked after

Also have had one for 6 ish years now, a generic ranger camping one made in Aus not a problem yet.
Mine is just a single as I'm small,
But if unsure, test out/ get in a king etc and make sure you have enough room to turn sideways etc without getting tangled

Have seen a few mates ones have problems with the mesh/ netting inserts but aslong as you take care of them they last ages.

I rub mine down with (lanolin sheep wool oil) after every clean every trip, helps keeps it waterproof and keeps that red shit out hahah!
Also if your a sensitive sally, you can get double thick foams form clark rubber for cheeper than in camping stores.

Rays outdoors and getaway outdoors sell the tent cots.

They are good. Only thing is they are abit awarkward when packed up.. But then so are swags.

ive got a spinifex stretcher, and like fuzzy said, packed up they weigh a bit and mine packs to about 900mm long, 100mm wide so it takes up a bit of space - but, its a packable shape

I went shopping for a swag up at Joondulup. 3 camping shops in about 100 mtrs of each other, BCF is one of the shops. Ended up with one from rays for about $180.

if you want to spend a bit extra, get a moondyne

i upgraded and its miles better. More features, zips and other bullshit then ill ever use, but the canvas is thick, insect sheet very fine, and the mattress is tops. Comes with pockets for the poles, ropes (with bottle top opener :P ) and proper pegs

I've got a Mitchell single and a Mitchell double....both awsome swags
http://www.downundercamping.com.au/product.php?productid=16173

If i were to do it again, id get the tent cott
http://www.bcf.com.au/Products/TentGuide/RapidPitchTents/DoubleTentCot.aspx

It's abit bulkier but in the wet season you're off the floor and away from snakes etc plus you won't have rocks/sticks poking your back and it has more room than the swags
The ultimate would be to put the swag inside the tent cott :)

Whatever you do make sure you get the 75mm matress as most swags have 50mm (makes a huge different when you're sleeping)
