I was driving to work in my daily along Marshall rd going past the ice skating rink doing 80 clicks in a 70 zone. I look across the road and coming towards me a cop car flashes who I believe is me. As I'm slowing they drive past me (going in the opposite direction and they have slowed and are looking across in my direction. I'm looking at them but they dont indicate anything so I figure they'll come round and pull me over. I see the lights come on and they punch it. I end up turning before the Bunnings and then got back onto some road before heading to work. I never saw them again. What are my chances I wont receive something special in the mail?

Thanks.

Scotty

If they can be bothered they will rock up at your address. However good chance they were not after you

Would they have caught a glimpse of your plates?

if you were generally doing 80 in a 70 zone, would be a whole lot of effort for not much, also 80 in a 70 zone would be fucking hard to spot in the first place...

how would they know you are speeding??

general cruisers don't have radars in em do they? only highway patrol cars I thought

They can be in any police vehicle. Always in highway patrol, generally in sedan's as well

You wont hear anything from it. Ive had the same thing happen to me a few times. One of my mate whos a police officer says they do it sometimes to try and slow an oncoming car or bike.

They would have pulled you over if they wanted to.

Looks like you got lucky.

Unlikely,

But I have known someone to get a stern phone call by a traffic cop a few days after the same cop I assume gestured to him to slow down.

I'm sure they can. They rocked up to my house about 6 months after pulling me over for driving unlicensed. Was supposed to be two weeks after the incident that I got a letter, but they misplaced it and rocked up instead.

I think your in the clear mate. If they wanted to book you they would have swung around and pulled you over. Probably didn't have a gun on you so no speed reading hence they can't charge you with speeding.

Good to know. If I was in my GTO I'm sure they'd have tore after me, but 80 in a 70 zone in my shitbox Elantra doesn't seem worth the effort. Then again it could have been a very slow night for the boys.
