Only got in from the start of the 4th... incredible. Two absolutely brilliant guys at the top of their game slugging it out for 6 hours

Djokovic played some awesome games all tournament, good fun to watch him play.
Final was good as well, couldn't separate the two! Feel sorry for Nadal, but oh well...there has to be a loser :)

Fell asleep at the start of the 4th :( Just couldn't keep my eyes open.
Its pretty awesome to see though, how long these athletes can keep drumming up the strength to power on. Most people cant even work a desk job for 6 hours, let alone these guys who power through 4+hours of intense physical & mental torture. (sans doing it for the major coin)

has to be the best match i've ever seen, i was fucking buggered after 2 days on the road driving back from perth, including 3 flat tyres and other small problems, so glad i stayed up to watch the end of it, fucking warriors slugging it out like that for so long, they were exhausted coming into the 4th set but when the ball was in play just found a bit extra everytime.
won't be another match let alone grand slam final like that for a long time.

I thought Hewitt did alright ... knows his shit and made some good observations.
Womem's tennis is an absolute disgrace and has been for past 4 - 5 years.
I'm not sure how much everyone is into tennis - but Djokovic defeating Rafa, and the way in which he beat him, was f#cking huge. Rafa was on song, and returning absolutely everything, but Djokovic still found a way to out-smart, and a lot of the time, out hit Rafa. Would be amazing if he won all slams in the one calendar year. But of course, Rafa is still the man to beat on clay.
I wouldnt say I am massive on tennis but I have kept tabs on it since Novak began getting towards the top.
Certainly was an incredible match. The thing is, Roger, Murray and Nadal just saw a guy who played a monster 5 setter 2 nights ago just outlast one of the fittest guys in the game over 6 hours.
The mental edge it must give him is huge.

I think Federer is just starting to realise these hungry young guys are just a little younger and hungrier then he is now. I bet you he thinks back to Sampras and the time where it eventually started to swing his way... he is 31 this year.. Rafa is 26, Novak is 25.
Thats not to downplay his brilliance though.

interesting fact too that is that when Nadal played Federer, it was the first occasion 2 tennis players with 10 titles each played each other.
Must be fustrating for Federer and Nadal, being one of the greatest if not the best except for the newer younger player with a more complete game. just managing to turn the right right screws to win. Kind of like Grant Hackett breaking world record time only to see Ian Thorpe grinning cos he got there first.

agreed, i still love watching federer play, the way he makes some shots are amazing, he's just can't match the power and agility of the younger guys now, look at their physique compared to players of even 5 years ago and they're so much stronger now than they used to be

Only seen from the middle of the 4th set, but it looked like an awesome match. Wawrinka will be kicking himself at not challenging at 4-4 in the 5th though, would have had the chance to break & serve for the match

Yeah Stan should have put him away in the second set, but gave up a break while trying to serve it out (was up 5 - 2). Novak is a machine - and you just cant afford to give a player like him a chance to get back in the match. Stan had a lot of chances to win - was disappointed he lost, but also happy to see Novak get through.

Everyone goes for the underdog, would have been nice to see an upset. I look forward to seeing what comes of the tournament now.
It's amazing how much tennis has changed in the last 10 years. It is absolutely brutal in the mens at the moment. So much power and some really athletic guys!
