Hi Guys,
My names Mick and i've been in the Construction Industry for the past few years. To sum things up:
1. I have a degree in Construction Management and Economics (Curtin University)
2. I have a Diploma of Building (Builders Registration Course) from TAFE
3. I have just over 2 years experience as a Project Manager working in the City
I am looking for a FIFO role either as Contract Administrator, Supervisor, Site Management, Project Management, Construction Manager, etc. Preferably a supervisory role with a Builder as I am trying to increase my knowledge in the Industry. I have applied formally to a number of companies but I am wondering if anyone here can give further pointers on which companies to go for and contacts that I can speak / send resume to directly.
Thanks in advance.
Mick

Yep, Cimeco are backscaling a lot of their SW work ( used to be massive down here, they bought out Devaughs ) and are going up to the NW, have started a new office etc up there, worked for them for 2 years, good pay rates and most of the supervisors/office people are pretty good to get on with.

I dont think you will be able to just jump into a PM or CM role with your experience mate. Takes a few years under your belt with NW site experience. Also with your quals your experience lies more with commercil building. Cimeco have a commercial division that deals with admin and non process infrastructure up north (Cimeco has just won HD4 admin and workshop).

What do you have available in West Africa if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks guys. I have hit up Chris at Cimeco sometime last year and I will try him again this week.
AKF6, thanks mate and I understand that I won't be able to enter a PM or CM role up North without a minimum of about 10 years.
Ben, do you actually work for Cimeco? or are you a HR contractor?
thanks mate.

Mark - are you an advanced rigger with experience?
I work for the client here at solomon in construction, I could ask around. I wouldnt have thought it was that hard to get a job doing that.
What about mono's? I went for a job there 12 months ago. Got it, never started because I got a better offer and still get calls and sms' from them about jobs they are offering.

hahaha have fun at solomon lads.
im with RCR at the moment at pluto. the construction manager here is going over to manage that job... ill hold my opinions of him off a public message board...
to the OP : i dont think ive worked under a manager that dosent have a trade background... theres one supervisor i know of without a trade ive come accross (useless) but most people with the responsibility ive come accross have worked there way up from a trade and the tools..

EDIT i say have fun at solomon, as the EBA is up on the fair work australia website... compare it to a few others getting around if you go to that site... youll see the difference.

Just pushing this back up as I have had no luck as of yet.
Any of you FIFO workers that know of any internal positions that are available within your companies and/or can provide details of the relevant contact I can get in touch with? It would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
