Hey
Today was playing gt5 and my ps3 brick itself and now i have the yellow light of death.
Does anyone know anyone in perth that can fix it? I don't mind if it only last afew days basically i just want to be able to backup my gt:5 save data as i have play it way to much to start again.
I have looked online and found few tutorials on how people fix it with a heat gun however im not 100% sure if i want to try it myself.
Cheers

Check gumtree or if you are game enough - jump onto eBay and YouTube and follow the guides/buy the parts you need. :)

These guys fixed mine for $100. Your better of getting a new one for another $200.

These guys are good, they're in Willetton. They deal with these all the time.

Anyone had a success with getting YLOD repaired? Has it lasted and how much did it cost. Don't really want to pay someone if it fails again in a couple of months.

You can pm me details if you want, but I am hoping to get mine fixed and save stuff I have on my hd etc. if I can't get it fixed cheap enough I will probly look at a new one to avoid the same happening for a few years at least.

i've never even heard of the 'ylod' lol, my kid killed mine about 4 years ago by stuffing jigsaw puzzle pieces into the drive, killed the laser but i still use it as a media centre, play games on pc or xbox 360 now.

ive fixed two with the heatgun method.
one i fixed i never used becuase the disk drive was fucked, the other one lasted about 1 month before it did the sames shit again...
i currently have three of the fat PS3's at my house, all 3 are RLOD but i'll have a crack at them eventually, just really busy with uni, and i dont own a heatgun :/

i had my blueray laser pack it in on my slimline. $60 for a new laser and cradle off the net and 30mins of your time, easy fix to get the thing working again.

^^^ that's good to know, we did get a price to have it fixed at a shop but it was like 60 dollars less than the price of a new one, which are even cheaper now... lol
i might get one of those next pay and give it a crack.
