Figured this would be a bit of fun to see what everyone on here rocks. I've only been into photography for about a month but I've really been enjoying it.

I have:

Canon 600D
Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 + Hoya CIR POL Pro 1 filter
Canon 50mm f1.8 + Hoya UV filter (thanks Mitchy!)
Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 + Hoya CIR POL filter
Speedlite 580exii + flash bounce reflector

Slowly finding my feet, been enjoying taking photos of people more than anything else.

Yeah I have. I like it. And for $70 or whatever it was you can't go wrong. The only thing it doesn't do is flash to focus on. So the other night when I was trying to take pics at a party with next to no light it was impossible, had to use the built in.

I have the 785B which only has a 1kg limit on it apparently.

thrtytwo

I have the 785B which only has a 1kg limit on it apparently.

just googled it, hella pencil legs :P

One thing I read over and over when I was researching tripods was get one with the least leg segments you can (that one has heaps! like 5), and the thickest legs you can. Without getting a big heavy beast obviously. But less leg sections = less vibration. And obviously thicker legs means sturdier.

I have the 055CXPRO3, its carbon fibre so its nice and light, but they do alu versions of the exact same style too, the 055XPROB

There are heaps of china ones out there that are a fair bit cheaper and also meant to be pretty good, but there was too many brands for me to be bothered finding out which ones were worth buying and which weren't, so I just went with a name I knew.

70-300 shitty kit lens
Speedlite 430 EX II

accessories - 2x180W strobes, 6x lighting stands, bags of radio triggers, 4x different umbrellas, sound-activated shutter (arduino controlled) loads of flash gels, battery grip, flash mounts/clips, a few remote controls, an intervalometer - and a blackrapid strap.

Good advice, I used an old (i mean circa 1980's) 35-70 f2.8 (push-pull), 50mm f1.4 prime and a SB800 flash for a couple of years before I got to the point where I "needed" more gear. Since then have slowly built a collection based on things I want to shoot that I genuinely lack the equipment to do, i.e. last purchase was Tokina 11-16 f2.8 because I wanted to start doing some landscapes!

I've got a canon setup also,
1D mk Iv and 7D, altho looking to replace the 7D with a 5DIII soon (smaller form factor makes it an easier 'travel cam').
Have an assortment of mostly Sigma lenses and some canons, manfrotto tripods, pocket wizards, Nissin flashes, china-spec lights and other accessories....
I'd agree with most that gear doesn't make much of a difference, however, I tend to shoot a lot of photos at night (clubs/bars, nothing fancy, but I get drunk a lot) and a camera with low noise / high iso is brilliant when shooting without a flash (good for a natural look). But definately seen awesome photos with more ''base spec'' setups, the missus uses a 450d with canon/tamron lenses and gets some awesome shots.. :)

I recently bought a Fujifilm X100.

So far I'm really impressed, I love taking photos but carrying my DSLR everywhere was a massive hassle - especially considering I travel everywhere on the bike/bus. I also find I'm shooting more 'lifestyle' shit, as in shooting stuff as it happens rather then going out specifically to capture something. Fantastic little camera, overpriced for sure - but a cool addition. The DSLR is now being relegated to proper shoot duties whilst I carry my X100 everywhere with me.

Bag, tripod and filters not worth mentioning. Probably going to get rid of the Canon lenses as they hardly ever get used. I find I that I'm more prone to getting out the 24-70 and 70-200 and I've gotten so use to the zoom ring rotating the 'Sigma' way that when on occasion I do use my canon lenses I'm a bit clumsy. I guess I just need to get the Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 to complete my collection.

For my happy snap duties I use an old but dependable Canon proshot Pro 1 although I'll probably get the new EOS M when they become a bit cheaper and available.
