View Full Version : 5 Gas Exhaust Test - Engineering
Endless

Just wondering is there anywhere that does the 5 gas exhaust testing for engineering purposes other than Roadbend Jaguar in Welshpool?
Hoping that a respectable tuning shop has one inhouse... pretty sure i am dreaming even though it would be perfect.

Mainline dynos are available with a 5gas analysis function, I rang all the perth tuning shops that I could find using mainline dynos around 12 mnths ago and none of them had the set up to do the testing... Might be worth another try?
Not being rude but why not use road bend? are you hoping to tune the car and make sure it is legal at the same time?

Quite simply really, they have tripled the price for a test since October last year when i called them. $198 per test now was around $65 previously.
As well as that rather than shooting in the dark "hoping" to pass at $198 a pop it would make so much more logical sense to tune the required levels. I can supply those from the engineer i am dealing with. This is reminding me of the Kostekis bullshit.

Now that IM240 is off the table and they saw what people were forced to pay for that testing, I'm not surprised they've bumped up their rate.. Bit of a joke though. Google returns very little info at a glance.

Roadbend have been charging $165 for the past 2yrs at least dude..
Im not tryn to have a go as I said try shops using mainline gear.. As these test have become more common I makes sense someone would be doing it now..
Whos the engineer your using.. The funny/frustrating thing about the test when I did it was no-one including the dpi was able to give me acurate percentages of ppm of pollutants I required to pass.. The first real figures I saw were at road bend who then made a recommendation to the dpi about whether my car passed.. Make of that what you will.

They were very close to the price of EFI Balcatta ($55) who i had a '5 gas' done at a while back but that is a story for another time. Having said this.. it was a few years ago now! Maybe i misheard him last year. Bit of a shame it magically increases in price as more people get pinged for engineering.
Cheers for the help though.. do you remember who uses mainline gear?

Monsta Torque & Xtreme Ford Tuning both have Mainlines. Give them both a buzz & see if they do 5 gas tests

I'm pretty sure MCE motorsport in wangara do 5 gas tests. They use a mainline dyno.

Paying $2800 for an IM240 appeared to be a joke on me :/

Well cheers for the leads guys. MCE Motorsports have it hooked up and are can adjust tune the car also if need be (by the hour) looking like the best bet as they are closest to me also. Not sure if those other places would be willing to fiddle with a powerFC?

Gonna put it out there for future reference as I had trouble sourcing workshops, garage 101 do them as well for $165.

I used roadbend for the hilux, Non programmable computer, aftermarket supercharger all I needed to pass was a new cat convertor and a good operator while doing the test.
Old boy used roadbend to get his car passed too. Same deal. $165 from memory.
Cant see a need to go elsewhere unless its no where near where you live.

Thread revival.
Is there any options for 5gas testing closer to Osborne Park other than ping101 or Roadbend.
Re-inspection is $198 (same as initial test) which I personally think is a bit rich when 2 years back it was only $65 per test.

I rang about 10 different places trying to find out the same thing. Most places only do a 3 gas test, not the 5. There would have to be others but I couldn't find anything.
