So my missus has expressed an interest in us taking her daily '10 grand vitara off road for a bit of fun.
A couple of your off road cruise threads have mentioned recovery points etc so I'm looking into getting a tow bar fitted for that purpose.
Anything else I should consider? I've played with it once or twice and it seems quite capable with a proper 4x4 box, low range etc. (I grew up in North Queensland so I've done a fair bit of off road stuff in Pajeros, series 100 etc as a teenager)
Am I overestimating the car? It's obviously not a 4.2L patrol..

I used to have a sierra. I used to be able to jump with it and was great offroad although they did have the tendency to fall over.

Lol!
She'd be a bit mad. But we'd just like to tag along and watch really, don't really need to put it in a ditch or tip it over.
I also had a sierra beast of a 4wd, tho small fuel tanks and short wheel base likes to tip over sometime ahah
The usual recovery points on the front and rear, recovery gear(snatch straps, shovel), tyre pump/gauge etc
the vitara is a capable 4wd even at stock height
pretty sure it has a Hi & Lo range.. should be ok

2010 grand vitara is nothing like a boonger old Sierra. Funny feeling they are independent sus all round?
Getting a tow bar put on so u can at least be recovered backwards is a good step.
Then get a snatch strap and ur pretty much sorted. From there it's just about tyre pressure. even the factory street tyres with the pressure dropped will get u most places so long as ur realistic.

The only thing with the grandy is there isnt much u can do with a front recovery hook cos the bumper is so chunky!
Also they dont have much clearance undernieth as most would like. But bash kits are avail :)
Did u get the lil 2dr?
