So I've done another clutch, yay, so much fun changing these pingpingpingpings...
Seems to be my Silvia weakspot 4, in comming on 3 yrs...
The day after I bought the car I blew the clutch (was a stocker taking 14psi of untuned abuse on a cruise Oops).
Had a cushion button put in that was an extreem (was told exedy and paid for an exedy) lasted less then 8 months (no duh).
This was replaced with a 5 puk unsprung exedy lasted around 3-4 ish months (snapped a pressure plate bolt, caused havok in the bellhousing/clutch/ flywheel.. pretty much ruined it all, have a hole in my bellhousing as a reminder) But that was a wicked clutch, Chattery and snappy but great for skids.
Storytime over now,
So I've run this current clutch for a reasonable while now, a Exedy cushion button, was pretty good but gave up big time last friday on a out of work nye skid.
Basically the clutch system is fresh, new flywheel, master and slave + line etc.
I don't ride the clutch and try to heel toe and clutchless shift as much as I can dailying (Ie theres no issues other than I rag the crap out of my car, unless its the box or something?).
Now as I've previously discussed with the workshop I normally go to, I'm stuck between the need of the dailyibility of a cushion button and the strength of a 5/3 puk to smash through second and third gear skids.
I've also been looking at Npc (who I've emailed with my dilema's) and competition clutches, Anyone have any feedback etc?
I'd like to try the sprung npc 5 or 3, or the exedy 3 puk but have a feeling I'm going to kill them in under a year again. (Which could be tollerated depending if things go to plan, but I'd prefer it to last a fair bit longer for once lol)
I've been suggested a single plate by a few, (orc, nismo coppermix, etc) but for that kind of money am I going to get what I need or is it just complete overkill/ going to become a box muncher? lol.
Car is basically a daily crapper/ weekend warrior running 10 or 12psi, daily driven although it probably only needs to do another few months of that.
Also its getting a 2way (most probably at clutch time) so I'd hate to get a new clutch in and 2 way in and blow another clutch/box etc from a shit poor choice.
Anyone got any thoughts/suggestions on what I should go for lol?
Also any hookups?
PS... NOT KEEN ON A EXTREME, pulled a few out now and see the same shit over and over.
