I can't remember if green P's had come in when I lost my licence... Anyway if it's anything like mine (2007) it'll be 6 months, and he'll have to sit his driving test again.

35k's over should be 5 points, $700. 45k's over is hoonlaw. Daughters boyfriend was going faster than he says?

Id say he has been charged with reckless and i think that doesnt have a spefic speed association. Has more to do with what he was doing ? Althought the 41 or 45km over the speed limit automatically makes what your doing reckless you can still be done for the offence at a lower speed.
I think....

I was done for reckless 6mths after i got my lic. Ended up having lic cancelled and was told it will be 6mths before i could go for my lic again. But when i did get my lic back i only had my P's for 6mths.
And as said 35k's over is not hoon laws

Reckless is normally 6months loss of licence and a fine, on P's he will have to re-do the practictial driving test then will get licence back. Dangerous driving you usually only cop demerit points and fine if your lucky. They would not have confiscated his car unless he has been charged with hoon law or a suspended/disqualified licence

P platers only have 4 points on their licence too AFAIK

Red P's 4 demerits, Green P's 8 points then 12 when you get full C class

Guys - 35 over + double demerits?

I'm guessing the 35 over was combined with a burnout or a race or some other shit that constitutes reckless driving, seeing as the car was impounded

Serious question: what does your daughter's boyfriend do for a living? What does he do for work, or what is he studying?
I was done for hooning back in 2008 (I think?) whilst on my Ps (car impounded, court hearing, etc) and I was let off purely because I was nothing like all the other drop-kicks in court that day (given my folks simply had to agree to me doing a defensive driving course, but that was it).
The majority of the people in court that day were a bunch of boongs aiming to get as many charges as possible, and then there were a couple there for assault charges. Here I was, however, a Uni student who simply lit up his tyres - in the words of the judge/whatever I was "studying a notable degree at University" and that I was a "smart man who would likely not re-offend" as a result of said degree.
That said, I'm not sure how harsh judges are on "hoons" nowadays.
Long story short, if he isn't a drop-kick and is doing something with his life, he will get treated better than all the other degenerates in court and hence the possibility of a reduced sentence.

He has just recieved an apprenticeship as a welder the day after he lost his car. Bad timing, He is an ok kid and has his shit sorted out mostly. Apparently his mates were encouraging him to beat the little car as his should be faster...

Doesn't work that way now. Lost my license for 12 months & copped a $2500 fine for driving whilst suspended early last year & i had 2 respectable jobs + i was studying. All the other shit heels that got done for similar/worse offenses that were unemployed & wearing flano's/black jeans/rossis etc were given a slap on the wrist both before & after me.
Can't get cash from dole bludgers & the fine has to match the suspension, so if you appear to have cash you're fucked.
reckless/hoon/careless/dui etc = court summons & automatic loss of license for any p plater

Oh well the truth comes out as papers for court arrived today and seems that he was doing 48kms over the speed limit now this changes everything
1 why car was taken
2 time without licence
3 Size of fine
Lasoya
13-01-2012, 06:52 PM
Anything over 45kms becomes reckless and gets impounded
Min 6month disqualification if hes lucky
About $800-900 just for the 28day impund fee and court fine can vary prob be around $500-1000
JNR man
13-01-2012, 08:39 PM
got a bill for $920 for impound fees but car is due to get out on australia day so probably be there for an xtra day as public holiday = extra night impounded another 50 bucks
