Hey guys

I bought a set of 6.5inch splits and was wondering how you fit them into the std position (retain factory appearance) they will fitin the door cavity etc its just that when putting the door trim back on the surround rubs on the trim, i don't like that idea so i was wondering what you guys have done?

Cheers Mike

i simply trimmed my trim so that it didnt rub any more although i wasnt fitting splits, i fitted 6x9s which were a bit of a squeeze to say the least. sounds good though.i only fitted them cos my local stereo shop said it couldnt be done.
try to adjust the height of the splits ( higher or lower) when you build your wooden template to attach them to your door, this should give added clearance.

kermit.

Did you have any troubles fitting the grille back on? I wouldnt trim the surrounding parts of teh trim to clear the surround but i was worried that the grille wouldnt fit back on the trim or id have a "cutout" section . If that makes sense? lol

I just fitted 4x6" JBLs to the front of mine as they are direct replacement for factory speakers.

And JBL 6.5" speakers to the rear shelf...again direct replacement for Factory items,

Sounds OK

i tried to fit MB Quart 6.5" drivers into my 32's doors, managed to space them out to clear the window, but then the door trim wouldnt fit...

im guessing a nice shallow set of drivers would easily fit with a simple wooden mount.

i retained the factory speaker covers on the gtr doors. i did have a little trouble fitting the door trims back on and i ended up trimming the inside of the door trim slightly and then it fitted fine. a little tight maybe but tighter is always best.
