Anyone keen for a "photowalk" some time?

would be keen to meet up some time and shoot something, get some tips, go for a beer, whatever

only rule is no 2 man walks, could be seen as the wrong thing...

I've been going out a lot of nights by myself lately so thought Id throw my feelers out.

ok lets say January some time, is there a big preference for day, or for night stuff?

day shoot would probably mean go to freo or the city, walk around, take some happy snaps and grab a pub lunch(or not, whatever)? would have to be on a weekend I'm assuming because most real humans have to work during the week.

night shoot would obviously require a tripod. could do light trails, light painting. Unless there is one cool location it would probably require driving around a bit.

From the sounds of it most people are happy to start in the arvo and carry on into the night.

2 questions remain;

1. Saturday or Sunday?

2. Location?

I can't, and won't, decide this by myself. So if no one else has any suggestions or opinions it just won't happen.

I am free Sunday 29th Jan.

Wouldn't be keen on power station. Done it to death and night wouldn't be much fun as you can't really capture the colours of the graffiti as well, just gets washed out with flash. I'd probably still come if it ends up there, however my vote is elsewhere.

How about an evening City -> Kings Park walk/short drive?

Last time I went to East perth power station it was pretty sealed up tight. Never been in though.


Also, South Freo power station security comes on the hour every hour.

powerstation is fine, i paint/photograph in there all the time, have been for years. security only really rocks up weekends maybe once or twice a day and they dont even get out of the car just drive around.
have been approached by cops whilst painting and after a brief chat have left me alone. the top levels are now accessable, so u can go outside/on the roof.

meet at subi nandos seems to be a good idea. But is there much parking there? I'm guessing about 3-6 of us might turn up so shouldn't be much of an issue unless its all street parking

keep in mind the sun will be setting around 7:30 which would be prime for either the cars on the roof top, or pretty much anything else...

also, unless we just want to improvise on the night I reckon we need a few more location suggestions or we'll wind up walking round the city scratching our heads all night.

for a bit of variety I think;

- cars on car park roof top
- walk around city a bit
- possibly kings park or south Perth foreshore for some city shots???
- somewhere a bit more 'landscapey' to do some light painting??

I have a good book for random walks. it has a good one for Freo, the city and guildford historian walk. shows how long they are and what you can see along the way. the freo one goes past all the major sights and some that arent that common :)

awesome ! i looked up some steelwool just now and they used a whisk so you could load up heaps inside, could be useful next time

Tunnel location i mentioned for next walk. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swan_View_Tunnel this could then include driving out further into the bush and get some good start shots etc

pretty much all the light painting ones i had were just out of focus. ffuuuu. i must've touched the focus ring after i set it to manual.

that fisheye lens is awesome. do want.

look forward to the next on....might bring a bolt cutter in my bag of goodies :)

should we be making a "photowalk V2" ?

just trying to think of ideas on what and where...


some ideas that come to mind, serpentine falls/kitty gorge day into evening shoots

the train tunnels

can also venture out for night star shoots after the daytime pic's

we can do a group thing if people dont mind being seen in a falcoon i can be one form of transport
