Does anyone here have one of these hooked up around the patio/outdoor area?

Our outdoor area is almost finished and thinkin of chucking one of these set ups along the eaves to help cool us down when sittin out there on a 40deg day. But am a bit hesitant, do they actually spray enough water to make stuff wet or does it evaporate and cool before that happens?
Do they only work best during certain temp range eg: 35deg everyone gets wet, 38deg just perfect, 40deg they do fuck all?

I would need 3 kits to do my patio area and at $60 per kit its alot of money for some plastic hose and fittings that could just end up soaking everyone when they sitting outside.

cheers mike

I bought a couple from bunnings and they worked really well, needed some fine tuning though as certain seats around the table would get soaked but to be honest on a 40+ day you didnt give a fuck.

so they do actually wet stuff? My issue is i will have a TV on the wall and dont really want water gettin in it as that tends to make them stop working. Plus on boxing day will have decks and other electronics set up out there so same again they cant be getting wet

Shade cloth Patio blinds with misters on the outside FTW! Makes it like an aircon.

The Good misting systems run a pressure pump to create a super fine mist. However they are alot more than 60 bucks. The one my old man put in his entertaining area was about 1500 bucks with the pressure pump included.

Get a decent fan and hook up some garden retic to it and make a mister ring yourself, even put a tap on it so you can adjust it so your shit don't get wet.

The terms "mister" and "fogger" are often used interchangeably so there is much confusion about which is which. Some misters create a spray made of larger droplets that can get you wet. These are usually systems that use low or medium water pressures and larger spray nozzles. But foggers use high water pressure and tiny spray nozzles to create a fog-like mist that evaporates before it has a chance to get anything wet.

probably worth a read, I wish I had

Used them up in broome. Tv was fine. And as Niva has just found out you require a fogger not a mister

I just used some black poly and a screw on fitting for the garden tap and super fine misters. Works well for $15

If you've got a metal patio, it pays to have a small sprayer on top of the roof to just keep the tin itself cool. You'll drop the overall temps under it pretty noticeably.

Try 'coolmist' local Perth company.

Yes stuff gets wet but it depends on the proximity to the nozzles.

I hose my roof down every few hours if i'm entertaining through Summer & does wonders for temps. Bit of a pain, but ensures my electrical items don't short out.
