Anyone know where to find a rebuild kit for an R33 alternator?

Also if anyone's done one, are there any pitfalls to look out for or fairly straighforward? I've never rebuilt an alternator before.

Reason behind this is a battery light at idle, surely that's a sign it needs a freshen up.

Thanks,
Sam

Does it have a removable voltage regulator? like a black box thingy that is bolted/screwed on?

Theres a series of tests you can do to see what exactly is fucked.
Be good if you could get your hands on an ammeter, then you can see how many amps its putting out.
Chances are though its the Voltage Reg though, brushes probably fucked.

Most of the RB alternators can't be rebuilt, but all RBs are interchangeable, varying from (70A on rb20?) 80-90A, going up with engine capacity
After fucking around with various options, I ended up using a Bosch item that you can buy over the counter from Repco etc that is for an RB30.. nice little 85A unit.

I'll post a pic with the part number when I find it in a sec, I picked it up on special for about $200 (nissan want 1K for rb26 90A alternators LOL)

edit: here you go:

What can't be rebuilt about them?
Its just a rotor, stator and rectifier board and voltage reg.

Maybe the parts are scarce, but it is a Nissan so this wouldnt make sense. Best bet would be to just get a new one like the above.

Thanks for that infamous_t, conviently for us, the mrs works at Nissan parts department here in T'ville.

On that note, if anyone needs Nissan genuine parts I can probably pass the odd order on to her and sort out postage etc over to Perth, trade pricing on Nissan parts should help a few people maybe :) and on some of the prices I've seen the savings would more than cover postage costs. I don't know, may be worth a try. PM me if interested I guess :)

I took apart my s13 alternator and broke it, but I ended up using another second hand one. Would be keen to know how much the trade price is for one, but I get the feeling it is still stupid expensive haha.

not all parts have to be bought from nissan...

find out what model of alternator is interchangeable with it, and shop around.

That is true. Often you'll find that Nissan outsource the parts anyway.
