View Full Version : TV Warning-Do Not update Stations/Scan.
Went to retune our TV last night, 55" LCD Schaub Lorenz.
Scanned all new channels etc.
Then nothing. No digital channels , just stuck on channel 7 blank screen.
No worries Schaub's have a 5 year warranty.
Called,
Nope..... problem is caused by channel 7's new digital channel corrutping the digital reciever as they use Mpeg 4 others are Mpeg 3 or something like that.
They are aware and are sorting it out.
This issue only affects TV's older than about 6 months old and started Monday.
Just be aware..
Channel 7 you suck!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreambox
Father in law has this scheme set up with his mates. All ten of them chip in for a single subscription, which is then shared among all of them. In a nut shell, all use satellite to receive the scrambled foxtel signal, using the dreambox. All dreamboxes are connected to the net, and connect to the host to download the decoding key in real time. The 'host' Dreambox is the one with the genuine subsciption card in. You cannot replicate this card anymore, but this works well and independently of each other, all can watch different things at the very same time. Doesn't use much bandwidth either.

I'd rather relax at home and watch some TV with the missus, bub and a beer; a lot better than dealing with dickheads out on the town trying to get chicks and acting like douches.
Cheers for the warning. Almost went to re-scan on Tuesday as I noticed we have like OVER 9000 SBS channels that aren't even used anymore...

They got theirs on Ebay. But that was a few years ago now. There may be other sites that sell them too.
Usually cost about 500 bucks. If you're doing that whole set up, you'll also need a satellite dish etc. All up will cost you a grand to set up, but depending on how many people are in your group, it will pay itself off within 6-9 months. it's not easy to set up though, you'd need to do a lot of research. Some dreamboxes may also be incompatible.

Its a new Channel 7 Station, TV4ME
" this datacasting channel consists of branded content in offer lifestyle, finances, community, education and shopping. It has already been seen in rural areas via Prime Media.
TV4 will be added to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and in regional Queensland through Seven Queensland.
The content comes from Brand New Media and online guides indicate the titles include Scrap It TV, Ab Circle Pro, Ahh Bra, Aero Pilates, Eat TV and University of NSW."
My PlayTV rescanned automatically so it seems, no problems here with any other channels not working.
That being said, looking forward to buying an Ahh Bra at some stage from the new TV4ME junk channel.

Warning: old thread :D
This problem has apparently recently got worse for older TVs since Ch 78 started, or at least since they started broadcasting stuff again (the racing?).
Me and 2 friends all bought 40" NEC NLT-40HDB2 digital flat screen tellies several years ago (I can't remember exactly), and this "stuck on Ch 7" issue started on all 3 TVs the other night.
After many hours of Googling and stuffing around with my set, I managed to fluke getting all the other digital channels working, but if I put the tv on any of Ch 7's channels (7, 70, 71, 72 or 73), it stuffs up again.
Does anyone know anything about this?
The TV won't re-scan the digital channels, and this model doesn't have a user-accessible factory reset
I'm in Melbourne. Is this an Aussie forum? :o

This recently bricked my old TV also. Would be good to fix it as the TV is good. Pretty annoying. If you hunt around the 'net you might be able to find the "secret" code that accesses the service menu for your tv, and the menu might have a reset. Such codes usually aren't in the user manual. Google you tv with stuff like "service mode" or "service menu", and you might get lucky.
Yes, it's farkin annoying. :D Bloody Ch 7

Call up and threaten to cancel, can drop to half that. Just say you still watch all the channels but cant justify the price anymore.
They will offer three months at reduced rate, just call before end of the three months and repeat.
Worked for 9 months for us before we pulled the plug on it for real (a week before the F1 deal was announced FTL)
