+1 for camera electronics.
I called camera house cannington to ask if they had a lens to rent (70-200 f4 IS) and they said "sorry we need 3 weeks notice" (this was the day before I wanted it mind you) then I called camera electronics and they said "pick it up this arvo" have rented other stuff from them too. nice staff, knowledgeable, decent prices

yeah no comparison between Camera Electronics and Camera House! guys at Camera Electronics know there stuff. trying to get a tripod foot/spike for my month trip by tomorow.. see if camera electronics can get me one! yeah 100-400mm is sweet the push/pull works really well imo for the wide zoom range.

Team Digital only have a 70-200L, sold off the demo/hire 100-400L a while ago. They do have a 2X converter available which would take the 70-200L to 400mm and f4-ish
Price-wise it's around $80-100 per day +$300 deposit
Team Digital only charge a single days hire for an entire weekend (Fri pickup - Mon drop off) which can work out cheaper especially on long weekends and CE do 1.5 days for a weekend iirc.
CE have longer stuff available to ie. 300mm + while Team Digital can supply PhaseONE medium format gear for hire too, Phase stuff is expensive but killer dynamic range, detail and resolution.

For what its worth Camera Electronic didn't charge me a deposit on any items I've rented. And the 70-200 f/4L was $77 for the day. Which I picked up the Thursday evening before the Friday I wanted it for, and dropped off the Saturday morning afterwards.
Not trying to shit stir, just putting it out there :D

Yeah but then you lose Auto Focus - if that matters.

you can hire Hasselblad from CE.. neither are that great for fast moving stuff though, not very good high iso.

F'in pisses me off when venues do this sort of stuff. Fair enough if they have signs or put things up beforehand, but the amount of times I've got shit from places for bringing an SLR or a lens that looks too big... :/..
With prices of SLRs coming down they are becoming more commonplace for non-professionals. :/..
