anyone in the above industry and have any opinions?

ive got the opportunity to possibly get my foot in the door with one of the bigger NDT companies and seriously considering it.. cash is good, roster might be good - either 2:2 or 3:3 and surely is a good career move considering i cannot really move up from where i am currently..

Im assuming some of the quals they will pay me to get over a few years might also be applicable/beneficial in the radiographer/medical sector down the track if i get sick of FIFO????

DO IT imo! can earn good coin if you do it right im not fully up with it had a mates older brother working for aztec and he was apparently making some very decent coin and perth based too if thats your thing.

worst case scenario is you find out you dont like it move on its all experience! and FIFO experience!

DO IT.
im a boilermaker / welder at pluto at the moment and see the ndt lads around site alot. cruisy gig. i reckon it would get boring but interesting while you learn it at te beginning.
a field that has to expand in the next few years with all the oil and gas construction gioing on...

if you dont do it hit me up the company and i will!

Do it. Even if you get tired of FIFO, there is plenty of NDT carried out in Perth.
Do as many qualifications as they are willing to pay for...UT/MT/RT/PT... it is all used.

Know quite a number of NDT techs that have gone on to be QC Inspectors after a few years.

Which company is this, out of interest? PM me if necessary.

We use a certain company here at work, just wondering if it's the same.

Use to work out of Karratha for a company doing NDT on Rail Welds with a Level 2 NDT Certificate, not hard a hard job to do (the NDT side) but working on the rail when you cant use the Hi-Rail all the time sucked ass.

I work for a Proofloading/NDT/Rigging Manufacturing company and I'd say go for it mate. Once you've got the quals you can get picked up by heaps of companies for pretty decent coin in the industry. When we send techs of to get qualified we have to make them sign a 12 month contract to make sure they don't go anywhere else coz the opportunities can get pretty good

Do it and dont look back...
Also work your ass off to get your UT quals, a level 2 tech with nodes and nozzles qual is worth their weight in gold..

^^ ive spoken to one of the other guys they picked up a while back and he was doing 2/2 on about $120k on his traineeship... he's been there a year and now up around $140k.. this same company offered me a T/A job but cash aint that great - $32 p/h doing a 26/9 roster and 7 of your 9 days off are paid.. worked out about 9k in the hand per 35 day swing..

my other option is working with Rio as a plant operator on 2/1 on about $125k but i defo want to hit the NDT side of things as im into techy stuff and been in IT etc before
