APSA Education Forum Workshop

Title: Moving forward with pharmacy competencies and standards

This half day workshop focuses on preparatory programs and collaborative sharing of implementation strategies regarding the updated competencies and quality learning opportunities

Learning objectives/outcomes

• a greater range of strategies for implementation of updated competencies within preparatory programs is available following collaborative sharing and workshop activities

• increased familiarity and use of online website learning materials through collaborative sharing of implementation approaches

The focus will be on the ALTC Learning Outcomes project but also pharmacy competencies and standards and the work of the previous ALTC national pharmacy project. The ALTC Learning Outcomes project involves nominated representatives from each pharmacy in Australia and New Zealand collaboratively developed agreed learning outcomes and developing exemplar assessment tasks.

LOL yeah. Work for Tyco (not the toy company...) and have to do online workshops about third party management and shit like that. The terminology used is written in some fucking code that no regular person can understand.

What the fuck is a Six Sigma Green Belt?

Yes.

We get some corkers, fly 5 hours to a conference to hear some douche blab on for an hour, get on the piss & fly home. It's a fun little novelty when you first start but I'd rather be getting shit done at home then wasting my life suffering through mundane shit that generally teaches me nothing.

Learning outcomes is just a fancy name for Training.
And it sounds like they are reviewing your competancy based training and making you do online training (because it's easier to do for you and easier for them to track).

How you go in these will affect future pay rises (this is how ours works).

You're right Tristan, my degrees are not really relevant to employment as a baker. Lucky for me I'm not a baker :)

At least as an engineer, you get to do your own destructive testing on your RB25..

Six Sigma is a management tool that can be used by workers and managers. It basically has step by step phases from a define, measure, analyse, implement and control. In each phase there are a number of tools you can use to complete the phase. It basically gives you some useful tools to help maximise your project/tasks effectiveness and it forces you to consider things you would sometimes look over.

Kind of like doing a no brainer task like changing a lightbulb. If you were forced to sit down and think of the hazards/what could go wrong then you might pick up things like, lightbulb might be hot (ensure its cool and wear some gloves), Could fall off what Im standing on (use a step ladder from the shed). Thats an extreme case but its an example how forcing you to consider things such as what might prevent you from successfully completing your task will actually improve your chance of succeeding in the task.

Yellow belt, green belt etc are levels of completion. Yellow belt looks at doing a simple project using the phases I've listed above. Green belt and above are more for managers and managing large projects/people/teams.

try this boys ...... bullshit bingo

at the start of a pd each person is allocated a bullshit word like

(Insert most words from first post)
competency
feedback
corportionary
yada yada
you keep count of your bullshit word and if it comes up 7 times (or whatever number you choose) you have to say out loud bingo (or any word you choose) ... if it's in a full on pd can be covered by a cough etc

if someone is real keen they make a set of bullshit words on a proper bingo card and hand them out, got us in the shit a few times but makes the time go quicker, actually made us pay more attention as well!
