Alright,
LS1 gen3, all that shit, as standard as they come.
Auto gearbox, in *Drive* when it changes from 1st to 2nd, after take off, if you plant the foot while in 2nd, it feels like the engine is starving/choking/limiting itself, all the way until 2800-3500 rpm. (FLAT SPOT?!) it also does it even when manually changing.
Dont blame it on Traction Control, because that shit wont even flash LOW TRAC.
i just wanna know what it might be, how i could fix it, etc.
no shit jokes, just help. cheers.

Is it engaging 2nd or flaring in between the 2 gears?

possibly torque management and undecisive tune for the auto calibration.
stumps.

Gotta be the box if its only faulting in 2nd gear, any other issues would fault regardless of gear.

how does it rev after the flat spot? be getting old now if the exhaust/cats are original as such it could be a collapsed cat blockign the exhaust.

Collapsed cat would choke it all through rev range, no?

New oil in box about 1000ks ago. I'm almost certain it's an engine problem, because the gearbox only flares when you beat on it for 15mins straight.
It feels like it's lacking any acceleration, If I back off, and then re apply throttle, it mostly gets up and on with itself. Only other thing I can think is fuel issue, eg:filter, injectors, etc.

Would be more prominent higher up in rev range if it was fuel starvation.
Do you have access to a fault code reader?
stumps.

Agreed fault code reader will be the best diagnosis for you.
Is the car tuned or stock?

I'd say MAF is playing games or TPS

Check your exhaust, i've had this problem a couple of times with cars. Customer comes in with it feeling like its holding onto gears, cat had collapsed.

Try Mitch at WA Performance, worth a call. They still deal with non-performance requirements through their Service Centre.

Sweet ideas guys, I'll eliminate each idea until it clears up.
QUESTION: if There is no lights flashing on the dash (eg: engine check/oil check etc) will I still receive a fault code?

Seen a lot of these end up with dirty rails and injectors.
