Hi All,
Before you all tell me I shouldn't of got VIVID, I did and it is all I have to work with at the moment.
I have searched the internet and found partial solutions but no step by step guide on how to do this. I have the vivifi hotspot and XBOX 360 with the wireless adapter thing. We have been playing online for a long time without too many issues.
Yesterday CODMW3 came out and my NAT setting is STRICT rather than MODERATE that I was getting in CODBO, so limits the amount of games I can connect to, once I am in one however it is fine.
Can anyone help me with me with how to make it open?
Cheers
Might be a long shot but have you tried running a LAN cable from your PC/lappy to your 360 and having the net running through it that way?

Yeah i did that first was slower, the wireless adapter thing is definitely better, it has to do with opening ports etc.
The speed once i am in a game isn't an issue, just the NAT setting of STRICT limits what games I can join
Do you know what ports XBL uses?
can you log into the vivid box? I know I can with the vivid gateway

Can you get into the admin console of the Vivifi Hotspot?

Yeah you can but it is very limited in what you can change.
There is a section for port forwarding / opening. It gives you the first three numbers of an I.P. address these first three cannot be changed - eg 198.168.1 [you can type in the last one here] then you type in the port you want. I have no idea what i type in for the last IP number.
I can screen shot it when i get home if that helps.

Nah that's all you need.
You Xbox360 will have an IP address assigned to it by the hotspot - that's what you need in that number.... then portforwards these ports

You will most likley need to enable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play, like Port Forwarding on Demand) on the Modem/Home Gateway and Access Point/XBOX otherwise you are going to have to do a static DHCP Lease (Get the same IP Address) and Forward a load of Ports.

The vivifi one is quite different to the home gateway you posted above. What do i type in for the last number of the IP address?
I am trying to explain this to the best of my limited knowledge but in the section where you can select ports to forward it has the first three numbers of the IP address locked in then you need to type something in the 4th position then type the port you want to forward.
with UPnP does the xbox tell the gateway what ports it need open? and thats it?

Yeah its a bit complicated, you essentially need to access the DHCP Lease Table to find out what IP's have been assigned by the device. Never logged into a ViViFi (only a Home Gateway) so cant really help with the interface.
The staff at the support Line were helpful when i trailed it a while back (couldnt get Signal) might be worth putting in a call

Will screen shot the access screen when I get home. Niva, cannot enable UPnP anywhere I can see.

Wrong.
Stumps -
Whilst in the dashboard, move along to the 'system' tab (the furthest right tab), then go down to "Edit Settings" and you will see your IP info in basic settings.
That is the IP you need - I know the router is slightly different to the one I posted - it just had all the port numbers down the bottom so it was easier to do that.

Or get the XBOX IP address and put it in the DMZ Zone.
Say you XBOX IP is 192.168.1.69
You want to do 4 adds to start with using .69 as the IP and then put in
as port 80 ADD
.69 as IP 88 as port ADD
.69 as IP 53 as port ADD
.69 as IP 3074 as port ADD
Make sense?

Wrong.
There is nothing "Wrong" about it, stumps needed the IP of the Xbox, and the DHCP lease table would of provided that so he could set-up the port forwarding. Without knowing what the Interface looked like its a bit hard to assist.

This is because port forwarding is generally used for torrenting porn (port for wad-ing)
