Hey All,
I had a friend that asked me this question and it got me thinking...
EDIT: (thought i make the question a little clearer)
Have you ever had the problem where you already work at a job that you think is awesome, then an opportunity comes up which sounds better than the one you got but you are afraid to take it fearing it might not be what you expected.
Why do you fear?? Because you don't want to take the NEW job and regret it 2-3 weeks later but then you don't want to stay at your current job and regret saying that you missed out on that opportunity.
I'm curious to know how you guys make up your mind on where to go and if any of you have regretted the choice weeks later and what you guys did about it.
what have you got for sale?

I would pick the most annoying, most difficult to transport to and lowest paying job
...I love challenges.

Pick a job that benifits you with money and you as a person.
I picked a Sales Rep role because before my people skills were horrible they still arent tip top but they are much much better than they used to be, so I picked a job that I have to talk to people.

I sold out to the Oil & Gas industry.
One of the other offers I had was for a small design and manufacturing consultancy - the work would have been thoroughly enjoyable, but the pay was significantly less (for an Engineer) due to the company being so small. Another factor that pushed me towards this certain company was their reputation, which will no doubt assist in other ventures in the future. Taking this job, being in the city, also means I can take the train to and from work, and not have to rage hard in peak hour traffic.
It all depends on the individual and what matters most to them. Struggling through Uni for the last 4 years (no Centrelink, no taking hand-outs from parents; actually working my ass off to survive), I wanted to be remunerated nicely, and the monetary gains are going to help significantly towards a house, a nice daily, and finishing my piece of shit TX3.

Funnily enough, I was laid off a construction job for a back injury, and after physio cleared me, I was hunting for whatever someone offered...
Long story short, took a job with a company in Coogee, and they've been great.
Not high paying, or easy, but they've paid for numerous tickets and courses, and I've just scored promotion.
So I suppose even a job with prospects to move up the chain of command would be a definite factor.

Depends on how high up the Money vs Bullshit axis you want to go, find a point on the line your happy with and run with it. At the end of the day you have to be there for a large part of the week so you may as well enjoy your time there or get payed a shitload for it.

Haven't put myself in a situation resulting in multiple job offers.
Though I know of the regret thing... still here...

Look at the prospect of the job really.
like it or don't like it. you gotta do it for living.
unless you're a bum and grab tax payer money from centre link .
In my case, few months ago I quit from my old company to the current company that i work with.
Old company was willing to give me extra money to make me stay with them, but the new company that im with now offer more experience and training with significant less pay at the beginning but the gamble had paid off!
now im alot earning more than the old company had offered me to stay and now im learning Alot!, gain heaps more knowledge and experience.
Knowledge & experience will give you more MONEY once you go for another job hunting ;)
The one with that gives you the sexier personal assistant/secretary

Pick a job that benifits you with money and you as a person.
Couldn't have said it better. If you'e going to do it for 8hrs a day make sure you're benefiting from it on as many levels as you can.
Im with Meho, im a sales rep, although my people skills have always been pretty good which lead me into sales, Im still constantly learning new things everyday with my job and earning good coin. Whilst its challenging, its an easy job stress wise.

so just say you gambled to this new company and it didn't turn out to be what you expected, would you still stay with the company, go back to your old company or look for another. this was what I was trying to ask about regretting lol
7am, waking up in the morning
Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs
Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal
Seein’ everything, the time is goin’
Tickin’ on and on, everybody’s rushin’
Gotta get down to the bus stop
Gotta catch my bus, I see my employers
ive been offered this job
ive been offered that job
Gotta make my mind up
Which job should I takeeeee?
It’s decision day, decision day
Gotta make a choice on decision day
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend
decision day, decision day
Gettin’ stressed on decision day
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend
lol seriously though good work! naize to be wanted! possible slight chance of the same issue in near future, long term stability is what ill be basing my decision on! and lifestyle

How can you regret the decision after only 2-3weeks in??? You barely done anything to know if it meets the expectations you have

doesn't have to be 2-3 weeks, can be 2-3months.. was just a throwout figure... but sometimes in 2-3 weeks you can already see what it will be like on a day-to-day basis
but i think mxracer has the idea lol.. only problem is that current job of my mates only just started .. and now he's got an opportunity to move to a 'better' role BUT unsure if he wants to risk it fearing that it might not be want he wants, while the current job is still as good as well.. lol but im sure the champ will figure out something and just gamble his career

i had a tough decision like that,
i was a qualified cabinet maker, doing my own private jobs and also working for a company, just got some advertising done, buisness cards, fliers, then a new job came up being a leading hand (prequal to a trainee supervisor) for a building company.
didnt kno weather to leave cabeint making, even though i put all this effort starting up my buisness, investing money into it.
ended up taking the new job, have still done some private jobs, but have turned heaps away.
while deciding, i went to my backyard, opened a beer, sat there, and thought about what i want in my life, and about what each job could give me.
im sure i chose the right decision

You need to research the company and your role well enough before the interview, ask the appropriate questions about it at the interview and the decision is easy. Having regret and making the wrong decision is because you didnt do the above correctly.
