So here is the idea: Everyone races the same track in the same class car and posts up their times. Winner gets to choose the following weeks event.
I was thinking S class around Tsukuba with the following rules:
Traction Control OFF
Stability Control OFF
Rewind OFF
ABS OFF
Auto Steering (if you're lame enough to use it?) OFF
Shifting is up to you if you want manual/clutch/auto, as is steering style. People with a wheel might prefer simulation, while those with a controller might not.
Times can be seen by everyone here http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/community/leaderboard.aspx Or under the Car Club section in Community in game. Scoring will be the same as it is in game, with the fastest clean lap being the winner.
Game on!

Keen! Looking forward to battling it out to see who posts the time second to xr06t's... :P
Will give it a crack tonight.
Obviously, times must be without the <!> that appears if you go off track/hit wall/draft right?

I guess I'll start the ball rolling with a base time. Don't have anything built for S (or anything else for that matter) yet, so just went for a spin in a Stock Diablo GTR.

Obviously heaps more time available.

59.939 with the Diablo GTR. Keep stuffing up! I cant seem to bring up the Leaderboards at the moment. Anyone else having connection problems?

I had a 1.00:xxx. Now I need to find another 2 seconds! And that was using a stock car? Jeebus.

To be fair, the Diablo is extremely competitive out of the box, although mine is the second fastest on the leaderboard at the moment by not much.
Good to see some other people struggling, I am stuck on 1:00s. Might try the Lambo.

haha Managed to break the 1:00's with the Lambo...

No ABS? Fark, that's the only assist I struggle without :(
Will have to give it a crack though!
Just did 3 laps and got a low 1:01, off to work now.

Yeah same! im half a second quicker with ABS....
mr_mike
18-10-2011, 11:06 AM
I reckon ABS should be allowed dunno about anyone else but i struggle to find/feel the point where the car locks up making it pretty hard to avoid skidding off the track out of control.
Traction control is easy to drive without you just need to be light on the throttle.

Add me, i want to play too. GT is mezz23. Also, how do you join a car club?
I managed a 58.655 with the Diablo GTR, I think i could go a but quicker with some more laps in. Oh and all assists off too, just the manual shifting but no clutch.
maximus
18-10-2011, 01:57 PM
Friendly advice, the Diablo GTR won't get you the fastest time, I was only using it cos it was fast stock. Build up your own car, preferably light. Tsukuba is a tight technical track, small and light is the way to go. (As you can see by the top times)
WRickX
18-10-2011, 02:53 PM
He's actually right, I just beat my other time and got a 58:121. I used the Lotus Evora T124 (the racing Evora).
I can't break 59.
I got a 59.007.
2-Eleven needs more tuning

got the 2-eleven down to 58.031
Havent done any fine tuning just mixing and matching parts to stay under the s700 limit
Anyone got a good setup for it? looking at the leaders there is still 3secs to gain
controller is starting to kill my hand after about 10 laps now I think im gripping it to tight haha.

Yeah I agree.
Last night was first time I haven't used ABS, don't seem to get the same feedback without it. But same with anything, just a matter or getting used to it.
I played 2 years of FM3 with TC and Stability, took 1 day of FM4 to realise it's not needed.

Try harder?
Serious though, Try the Diablo GTR or build something very light, brake verrryy late and don't slide it.. (Hard, I know)
YOUR MATE
19-10-2011, 07:43 AM
Disagree on the last point. My fastest lap in the 2-Eleven I was sliding everywhere and managed a low 58 second lap. I feel there is a 56 in it for sure with how it's set up. Just need to stick it out and do it.
Stealthed
19-10-2011, 08:53 AM
I'm yet to get serious on the tuning side of my 2-Eleven however I found I was much faster not doing big slides, although in saying that you'd still get the small slides into corners and out etc.
Will give it another crack tonight!!

I probably should know this, but it's escaping me. What is MTC?

I've been wondering that too, I thought it was because we're using "Manual Transmission w. Clutch" however I can hardly see this as being an "Assist".

Yeh, I was wondering that too (about the MTC) but looking at it now, the only difference between mezz23 and myself is I use the clutch. So there's your answer, although I don't know why it goes in the assist column

whats the best place to help with tuning?
There are some tuning calculator apps such as Forzatune on iTunes or forzadroid on android market. Yet to use these myself, and the fact they are for fm3, but they apparently help out by giving you a base tune to work off
YOUR MATE
19-10-2011, 10:34 AM
I found the tunes suggested in ForzaTune to be total junk. A good tip I've found is to smash the diff gears right up, 4.XX, and then wind out the gears a bit as to keep the revs in the powerband. You want to make sure the car never shifts below max torque. check where that is by going to your cars and pressing X "(I think) so you can sort by weight/power/torque etc. Makes a huge difference to how the car drives, so much livelier than the suggested gearing the game gives you. A bit of postive toe up front and negative at back, not even half a degree of each, slightly higher caster, half a degree of neg camber up front, full degree or just under at back. As low as you can go without scraping. If you want the car to get a bit more tail happy, soften the rear roll bars and springs a bit.
That's pretty much my starting point for tuning anything and I adjust it from there. My Evo X is in the club garage and I've tuned that a bit. Give it a go to and see how you like it. One thing I've noticed is everyone likes things different. Sunbear thinks my tunes are junk... But he's a chip eating prick so I ignore the guy :)

How much time do you think using the clutch v not using the clutch is worth around the track?
0.304sec ;)
I don't usually use the clutch but I have been getting into it the last few days. Once you get your head around the down shifting into corners, it definitely makes a difference. I find it helps breaking into turns and going off other ghosts I race against you can see the gain on the straights.
^ Keen to try with clutch actually. but could see me fucking up corners having to let of / clutch / back on.
sorry forgot who it was that shared it, but the GT 40 MKII that was shared by someone on here is bloody awesome. Surprisngly nibble and so fkn quick out of the corners, very surprised!!! nice tuning. Only thing I cant get the hang of is the braking, just does not want to stop lol! actually have the same issue with that time attack evo.. fuck that thing is hard to control if you get off the brake mid corner
Constantly fighting just to stay in the top 10 haha, will have to dedicate some time to it tomorrow.
YOUR MATE
20-10-2011, 06:53 AM
Brake hard and late, clutch in and back 2 gears before you turn in. Shouldn't be on the brake at all mid corner. Start powering on gently mid corner then nail it when you can see the next one. Makes all the difference.

WRickX
20-10-2011, 03:57 PM
Bah, I might finally have to learn to use the clutch after all this time then. It's frustrating coming out of a corner and seeing the ghost in front pull away on the gear changes. The extra speed might have meant I would be 3rd on the table rather than 4th haha.
mr_mike
20-10-2011, 06:17 PM
Result got xbox back, done a bit of tuning with my cossies gear ratios has lost a bit of off the line acceleration but out of corners it's right in the power band. Now to tweak the sus I already got it turning in fast with little sliding but still needs more

Frenchy
21-10-2011, 10:21 AM
I think I could only get maybe a low 56:200 out of mine on a perfect lap, but I just can't string it together consistent enough and it's making me peak out. I'll chuck it in the garage for you guys to try, and no doubt blow my time out of the water.
Kudos to EJ20, that GT40 is a freaking handful so to be getting those times is impressive, mint car & throttle control.

It can be a bit of a handful but it's just that last corner I can't seem to get right. I can keep infront of your ghost for majority of the lap but you kill me in that last corner. It's doing my head in!

In my 2-11, I find if I can hit that corner at 135kph and hold it till the apex then power on, it grips nice & hard.
Most of my fast laps have been within 4 laps. I find with my set up the tires seem to turn to shit very quickly.
Interestingly, the fastest time guys look like they don't run LSD's in there setups. Watch when they come out of corners and lay single peggers.

an open diff would would stop the car from goin sideways big time when you power on without traction control mayb

Yeh I have mine set to about 35% accel and 20% decel. It does help but too "open" and you seem to drive straight rather than go around the corner.
I think I might have to try another car, don't think I can go much quicker with the GT40

this is the first time i've played forza since the original on the old xbox lol so i have no clue on setups, will have plenty of time to play around next days off though and hopefully improve, i found that gt40 was fun to drive, even if i was incredibad, bulk torque downlow so it's awesome out of corners.

I dont like the diff tight under decel, it locks the rear in too much and you cant turn the thing.

ALEX.
23-10-2011, 10:58 PM
so who gets to pick next track/class?
Fastest person?
If the fastest person is also the fastest the next week, the second fastest person for that week could choose. And so on.
Or you could run your way through the courses in a particular set way. Alphabetically; or in the way they appear on the screen when scrolling through them?
Or you could put up a poll each round for which track will be selected for the next week. People can vote and have 3-5 tracks to choose from. (we GT5 players do a similar thing for the weekly races – except that we vote for a car to use for some races the next week rather than a track [as we're constantly changing tracks throughout the night])
Just throwing ideas out there.

Unless someone tops him in the next 20 minutes, Grant (GT 86 WA) is to choose the next event. He can choose Track and Class, but it is to be a Time Attack style event, so either fastest stage or fastest lap. Car and tuning should be left open as everyone is different, and it's good to see so many people with different angles of attack on it. I think the restrictions should stay the same also, and by only the few who said they'd like ABS I think the majority didn't mind not having it.

Want to start a Forza drift league? Go nuts! I can see us needing a Forza Section in here..
Drifting is something to do on the Monday nights, among races and idiocy, as it's more fun with other people and get boring on your own. But that's not to say others might not get in on it if you do. I'm liking this Time Attack set up though, it's gotten a whole bunch of people into it.
