Cops have got the entrance to North Mole at the Tydeman St lights blocked off - causing chaos with the truckies.
Any idea what's going on?

The only thing I can think of is the SAS have been fucking around in Blackhawks all arvo.

Maybe found that bloke from Cott?

Edit: Although closing all the way back to Tydeman seems a bit rash.

Apparently it's a truck rollover on the 'S' bend of Port Beach Road on North Quay. Word is the road has been closed until further notice by the police and FESA.

Edit: Just got word it was a B-double carrying ammonium nitrate.

The prill cargo and leaking diesel would make a decent bang.

You're right - but there have been a few times in recent history where AN trucks have gone bang and killed a few people in the process.

Cant think of any trucks but this one always sticks in my mind http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_City_Disaster talk about worse case scenario!

Either way the lake of bang today would have been more arse than class. Anybody know if the Prime mover was carrying anfo and if it went over?

For fucks sake AN is just a fertilizer. When mixed with fuel oil or another fuel source is becomes a blasting agent. A blasting agent is by definition something comprised of non explosive ingredients and not #8 detonator cap sensitive. As such you'd need a large explosion to make it go bang. Back in the day ICI Explosives decided to do an experiment and set some MPU's on fire to see how long it takes to go bang. Being that AN is classed as 5.1 not a 1.x DG and therefore an oxidizing agent once the fire takes hold of the load you have about 30mins until the fire is sufficiently powerful to cause the AN to high order. Luckily AN is hydroscopic and dissolves in water so all you do is put some wet stuff on the white stuff and it disappears. (it's a great trick to cool your drinks down, get a 1/2 bucket of AN fill with water stick beers in = cold beers almost instantly) Yes I'm aware of MPU's that have gone up but they usually have exotic bulk products or the load was left to burn in which case they just let it burn and waited for the bang. (Yes I'm aware of the Texas City disaster in 1947 but that's a different kettle of fish...)

What they would have been concerned with is loosing the load in to the harbour as the AN would have dissolved and polluted the hell out of the area, basically fucks the water up and fish and shit die but algae loves it.

Sorry guys but the chance of that load going bang is about the same as me banging Miranda Kerr...
