Driving Standards

You will inevitably be punted during the evening (from accidents or lag) but 'revenge' punts just breed more shit driving.
Keep it clean. Even if you think you've been hard done by. Keep it clean.

> Give each other racing room. No other pushing or ramming other cars off the tarmac.
> If you accidentally push or hit a competitor off the track, slow and let them re-pass you to address the situation (apologising via your headset will also help).
> If you deliberately push or hit a competitor off the track, you won't be invited back.

For how to join and connection troubleshooting CLICK HERE (http://www.antilag.com/forums/showpost.php?p=818220&postcount=2).

See you all Thursday.

To save time, can you race mod it?

Nope, not this one.

Does seem to be a reasonable range of body kit parts though.

Not exactly hi-power but on racing softs these have loads of grip, i think this is going to be fun

Definitely in for this, will be trying my hardest not to spin randomly again this week lol.

Edit: After a bit of a tuning session this arvo managed to get down to 1:18.3 (online). **Waits for MGR's 1:10 reply**

I think this is going to be one of those situations where two cars are faster than one. Drafting is going to play a big part.

Should be on :) will have to buy a fiat. Not keen to blow cash on it though so will probably just race it stockish.

Question: why do we buy cars, spend hundreds of thousands of dollars doing them up to the max so we can tune them and are all on the same level, and then only do one race? I mean, yes we do two more, but the first is done 'properly' with no post and quail. The next two are done with boost on and that sort of defeats the tuning and quail thing.
I would like to see the second race done still without boost, and reverse grid from the previous race. That would spice it up! Genuinely fast people would start at the rear and have to work their way up; slower people would get a bit of a head start.

Anyone agree? We have 3.5 hours of boosted races for the rest of the night...

One seasonal race nets 400 - 500k and takes around 5 - 7 minutes. Enough cash to bomb one Fiat 500 and with change to spare.

I'm happy enough to have boost off for the COTW races.

i did a 1:20 in practise. amazingly it took me a few laps and trans mods to get from a 1:22 when i had a 200kg ballast on.

getting punted into the wall on teh first lap in a no-boost race and then having a glitch that makes your car handle like shit blows goats :(

Having said that, im ok with having no boost for the COTW races [edit] BUT only if the standard of driving improves ie no divebombing heros and if you punt someone off let them regain their position

no boost = 3
on boost = 0

Fiats were good fun, had to keep the pace flowing to be quick.

yeah, fiat racing was the best fun i've had in a while.

Was hoping to have a good battle in the Fiat (I knew I was going to be quick), but instead walked away with 2 of the races. I found the biggest gain in tuning was the ratios. Using the max speed slider left a huge hole between 3rd and 4th gears and with a top speed of anything above 230km/h left the gears too long.

I like the slower cars for these races a bit better, as they are a bit easier to control without a steering wheel (unlike the Merc last week was a pain with the dual shock controller)

TJ

mp4-12c = stupidly fast but stupidly hard to control with a controller. Brockas comment was "jesus tj how much power has it got"

Quick poll:

How many people who suffered the slow lap time glitch in the Deep Forrest Fiat 500 race were using steering wheels instead of the Dual Shock controller?

Was annoyed I missed the fiat races, felt pretty confident about them due to what others have said that they are easier to control with the dualshock. On another note, is everyone else running Nat type 2 cos I think that's why I couldn't get on to begin with.

+1. G27

I remember a similar incident in a race with the overclockers guys where one guy reported his car majorly down on power, he was normally a pretty quick driver but we all passed him easily and he was like 4 or 5sec a lap off the pace.... i think this is the same bug

Its like the boost code gets screwed up and thinks some cars have a massive lead and turns the power/grip way down

TJ
07-10-2011, 12:50 PM
Boost was off for the first race though?

Im not the greatest driver, but I was right with MGR, then lost 2 seconds in a lap. Next lap I blow past him and walk away like he was standing still

Brockas
07-10-2011, 01:02 PM
Not sure what was happening but that happened to me 2 weeks ago. We tuned the Evo's, and I was doing consistent times, then come race time the car was 3-4 seconds off the pace, then did a blistering lap, then back to off the pace again. It's like the physics engine changed half way through the race. Really weird.
G27 here too.

As for last nights racing, really enjoyed the last couple of races.

I found the non-boost Fiat races REALLY frustrating. In all 3 races I was trying to race very clean, to the point where I'd make provisions for someone turning in on me slightly early, only to be rammed hard from the back and punted off the track. After that happens, you may as well quit and watch the race from the lobby, because you're racing on your own for the next 6 laps.

In theory I think the COTW races are great, but unless the driving standard improves I'm probably not going to bother with them. No point spending a couple of hours trying to get every last tenth out of the car if someone is going to make you lose 15 seconds on the first lap.

NASCAR racing is always my favourite. I think it's because the races are short, and if someone taps your rear quarter and puts you in a wall the race is over soon anyway and it's all just a bit of fun.

Handling turned to shit I went from doing 2:20 in qualifying to a best of 2:26 in the race.

+1 G25.
I overtook someone mid-pack in one of the races. The next corner, I was in the wall because I had no brakes and there was no turn-in. Poor little PS3 doesn't know what its doing and Polyphony's code is to blame. Last night had the worst glitch-related errors I've ever encountered.

I don't think any form of controller was going to fix my driving last night. Piss poor effort.
The start of the 1st race saw someone literally launched in the air. Quite funny to watch.

-1 im using controller and it was fucked for me, i had people smashing into the back of me on acceleration and i was going flat out.
I dont think tuning the gear ratios could pick up that much speed difference.
Also in both the nascar races i was coming 2-3rd with clear track infront then all of a sudden im in the wall and a heap of cars appear around me.
Sorry if i ran into anyone it wasnt intentional, maybe it was massive lag?

MGR
08-10-2011, 01:08 AM
While not 100% confirmed there's a lot of eveidence to suggest the loss of grip and power bug is only (or at least mainly) limited to players using a steering wheel.
