Rolled out today, pretty keen to see how good it is in Perth.
This is a speedtest done in Sydney

Keen on 4G tablet and now can look to another phone since Apple aren't adopting it yet with Iphone 5.

They had the guy on the radio today, he wasn't very convincing. Basically said the 4g network itself is only within a 5 km radius of the city and everywhere else it goes to 3g or 2g so most suburbs are left out.

That and its telstra and they are scamming dodgey kents who I've vowed to never deal with again in my life, I don't even have my phone cables with them.

Thats pretty much how it sounded, really unless you work or are in the city everyday then your not going to get much use. Also because of the deal they have with the NBN he was very quick to say its for people with laptops and people with high downloads would benefit more from landlines.

Pretty much, its not real 4G, its a telstra marketing term. But it still is fast.... if you're within the 5km radius.
otherwise its just 3g or HSDPA

Those USB sticks still work a treat IMO im down near gate ways and my VIVID that we got that time from harvies is still getting good reception and is generally fast has its slow moment when the weather epically bad, and im using it from inside an apartment complex too

Ah yes you do, even if you have naked, you still utilise the Telstra copper infrastructure.

Telstra might have shite customer service and be more expensive than it's 'competitors' but you cannot argue against them for having shite infrastructure, especially with regard to cellular services. No one in Australia comes remotely close for cellular services.

No I dont, I have fibre optics which aren't connected to the telstra system. Probably from a company most wont know because as far as I know it is only available in our area (maybe more since we built).

EDIT: Also I am talking cabling in my house to be specific, whereas everyone else will have telstra.

So that company is wholesaling from Telstra, or is Amcom, or if it's a new 'estate' it might be cabled for the NBN, aka Telstra.

I have been with Telstra for just over a year for my Mobile, shit all over anyone else as far as Im concernd for service, the only 2 times I rang them I was dealt with quickly and they upped my data for free to align with newer plans and then did me a better deal without changing the length of my plan.

Are you with e-wire too?
I had to pay the telstra pingpingpingping to put the wiring to my house but im not using it either, internet through the fibre cable then just use mobiles..fuck having a house phone.

This. There are currently NO production 4G networks in Australia. Same thing with vivid, dodgy motherfuckers selling 4G gear on a 3G network until they upgrade their access points. There are currently no endpoint technologies in Australia that actually meet even the MINIMUM throughput requirements for 4G classification.

+1

Wasted far too much of my life on teh phone to these useless pricks, i dont care if my ISP wholesales' throught them as long as i dont have to deal with them personally ever again - i dont care how good their network is

Also the NBN is (initially) only coming to a handful of suburbs in WA -from memory Vic Park is the only one in Perth...
