Hey,
car is an S13 silvia CA18DET.
Had a short shifter installed by a mechanic when he had my car for other problems couple weeks ago. Got the car back, shifter was all sweet, pretty tight n all as i would of hoped.

Neways, just had a new clutch installed by the clutch factory in w/pool. Got the car back, and there is HEAPS of movement in the shifter. Like so much i am missing gears and it just feels terrible to drive now. The movement is in all gears. It feels like a hundred year old car when its in neutral, just heaps of free play in all directions.
I took the car back today and got them to check it out, but they couldnt find any problem. They took it apart and showed me putting it back in and all seemed to be fine, but just the freeplay was still there. They told me they put it back the way they took it out, didnt miss any bits or what not.

Does anyone know what could be causing the freeplay in the shifter? It is really annoying and I hate driving my car now! I'd rather my stock shifter back!

Cheers.

its freeplay in the cables not the shifter. you may have slack in the cables. Have the actual gear locations them selves moved up/down/to the right/or left???

hey dude i used to have a short shifter just like your talking about on my old 180 i found i could adjust it by screwing top sort of thing up and down perhaps if u take it out and have a look you will see what i mean try adjusting it maybe its just rattled itself loose ???? its just a thought worth a try
