My work has offered to purchase me a tablet to the value of $1000.

What is out there and what is good?

My wife and my boss both have ipads. They seem to be good.

Cheers

if if your looking at non apple. I can suggest the asus transformer. Typing on it now actually :).
Personally I can't have a tablet without a keyboard that works on your lap. The added battery and native USB is nice too.

Thread title needs more Tablet.

iPad's are cool toys. Nothing you can do on them you can't on your phone, though. Then again, what else is there you'd need to do? Asus Transformer is worth a look I was told.

No USB port on Ipad, so no

I have an Ipad
Pros
-Easy to Use, Light, good quality screen, excellent battery life

Cons
-Does not support Flash

Tablets are not computers, they are mearly an access point, I like mine, but I have to fire up the lap top for the more challenging stuff!

Acer Iconia is pretty damn nice - had intended on getting one with my tax return before that become owing tax.

I just picked up a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, It's pretty neat and can do virtually anything you want. Still learning some things as I got some mates who make android apps showing me cool tricks but if you could get your hands on one, they rock!

Got mine from a Samsung store in KL.

If you want to know what it looks like and wat it can do. Watch some YouTube vids. Will give you a much better idea than any opinionated opinions on here :P

Also Samsung has there own customized layer and extra apps in Android which is generally regarded as an improvement. Most people (tech people) will tell you its the best Android tablet experience available at the moment.

Work gave me an ipad2, its great for email, web browsing, kids games, watching movies etc. the only reason i use my desktop is to edit spreadsheets and type documentation... which is not as easy to perform on the ipad.
we have a cloud system for work, it works pretty flawlessly out in the field, as long as you have a 3g connection. all the other android pads seem like a cheap copy, plus android is not certified for many corporate systems yet.

Motorola Xoom or Samsung Galaxy 10.2 when it's released.

The better question is - what phone, computer setup and email setup do you use - this will dictate largely what will function best.

If you are using a true corporate solution, and not some shitty app that only 4 companies this side of uranus use then it doesn't matter what you have in your hands.

Published Apps just need a screen to render on to and an interface for you to input on.

If what you are getting given has to work with some customised application that is specific to IOS, Andriod, bla bla blahhh then buy that device. Otherwise buy what has a nice screen and is light and not flimsy
