You're leaving your caravan to go overseas? The place is full of immigrants, sure you're up for it?

Went there on my Honeymoon. Very cool place.
We spent most of the time on Maui at one of the resorts and just relaxed.
Only stayed a few days in Hononlulu, generally just kicked around and went to restaurants and what not.
In honolulu Check out the Pearl Harbour museum. When walking down the main strip 101 dudes come up and try and get you to go to their shooting range. Go to one and shoot some Ak47s and what ever other assult rifle tickles your fancy
Depending what island you're going to, check out a dead volcano, check out a live one and lava flow. Most of them you can get a helicopter flight over which is awesome.
Mountain bike on Volcano slopes.
Whale watching depending what time of year you are going.

I'm currently tossing up some holiday ideas... Hawaii is one option!
Others include Langkawi, Fiji, Vanuatu etc
Anyone got any input on any of them?

Langkawi is nice, One of the beaches has a big floating pontoon for diving/snorkelling. We ferried over from Penang for a day.

Bump. Missus is bugging me to take her there in a few weeks as a last minute thing.
Anyone been lately? I dont do 3 star hotels but dont want to get raped either so any decent recomendations?
I would rather be ass raped (dry) by a hiv positive nigerian than step foot on a beach. Anything else for me to do there? Chopper over the volcano sounds cool though.
Seems to be a few kids going towards spending a few days on a cruise.
Average length of time people have spent there? I dont sit still, i dont drink cocktails by the pool, i dont sleep in till midday so how long before i get so bored i want to rip my eyes out?
I get seasick in a puddle so deep sea fishing is not appealing whatsoever either.
Thanks for any ideas.

Been to Hawaii twice now, all islands including the little ones.
Honolulu is stunning, very relaxing/scenic and great shopping. Accom there I'd reccomend the Outrigger on Waikiki.
Maui is just a nice although a slower pace than Honolulu. Cannot remeber name of hotel I stayed in there.
One place I really suggest taking a day or over night trip to is Turtle bay, place is just a massive "get fucked" senses experience.
Pearl Harbour is an eye opener but is always busy, expect Chinese/Japanese to be there in droves.
Driving upto a volcano mouth at 12000ft is cool too, roads are sweet (but icy)
Drive the Hana Hwy, it will take you a whole day. Pretty much it's a single lane, unsealed road on the side of a cliff above the ocean.
Traffic goes both ways so be prepared to reverse down that shit a few times.
You will see/drive under some of the biggest waterfalls in the world.
One last thing, eat the pineapple and fruits they sell on the roadside. 1000000000x better than anything I've ever had.
Got 3 nights in Hawaii booked while on the way to the USA for end-November this year - thanks for the tips!

Get to the big island, drive around for a couple of days. Check out volcano, lava flowing into sea at night, drive up I er the mountain, it's all great. About 11'climate zones on one island, you'll find somewhere that is you.
Kuaii is also great. Hanlei bay is a good place to stay. Lots of rainforrest and mountains on That island. Didn't spend long on Oahu. But hire a scooter and circumnavigate in one day if you feeling like a slow speed adventure.
Just go while dollar is good. Was high 90s when we planned trip just before GFC and crashed to mid 60 cents just before landing! Prices are like Perth, so expensive for Americans, but same old for us!
