Have been finding that I am having a healthy respect for old cars these days ...
Whats your plans full resto or just a clean and tidy up and lap around?

Clean and tidy cruiser, the torana will cop some extra love now that i have something else to lap in! Funnily enough same interior/exterior combo as my torana to!
This was a chance find, bloke was chasing a Hilux, mate rang me, i sent another friend around for a looksee then roadtripped to pick it up.
Cruises very nicely on the open road, the power steering does wonders!

Nice pick up man, pwr steer in these is great for low speed lapping but fuck they're floaty once you get out on the hwy :)

Surprisingly it is very nice on the open road, reminds me of driving my dad's dodge phoenix
Still a suspension overhaul is on the cards to make it as nice as possible

Nice mate. Although I'm a Valiant guy I still love the old H series Holdens, and the Falcons of that era. I'd love bog standard, a HQ wagon... could definitely see myself in one.
Great project there, I'd get those standard steel rims widened slightly, lower it a touch and perhaps a set of whitewalls, the venetian is no brainer, first thing I put on my old daily Valiant. Keen to see updates.
Factory V8 is cool, does that make it a Kingswood SL?
DanWA
06-09-2011, 01:07 PM
I was thinking it was a SL but i can't find any signs to show that it is, i thought the dead give away was factory v8 and power steering but then again i am a torana kid so all new to me
Ever one of your suggestions was on the hit list :)
Where would i go to get the rears widened? Then i'll have to track down some wide 14's!
Keep the comments and suggestions coming

Hit up Summerfield Engineering mate, you can use your original centres and get them up on 15" hoops so you can use more common tire sizes, piece of cake.
As for being an SL, I'm not a Holden guy, maybe it's just been optioned up with the V8 and steer etc. Is it a column shift?
DanWA
06-09-2011, 01:58 PM
Was column shift, the last idiot put a quicksilver in it that i intend to swap out for a standard floor shift console

Im not anywhere near 100% sure but i think "SL" wasnt used until the HZ.

my fathers in law paid 15 for a decent premier 253 recently.
just going to be a tidy cruiser, i'll keep eye out for a topend setup and converter though.

yeh the price of all old cars has gone up dramatically. like 5-6 for bunky shit that you used to be able to get for 2g's and less. looks real good for the price dan. i'm a huge fan of the hq stato front end, and yehh summerfield engineernig out in baldivis will sort you out for cheap on the rim front!

the 308/t400 combo will instantly double the price on a similar condition six pot and it looks reasonably clean
nice pickup dan, old man had a v8 hq wagon for 25 years which has given me a soft spot for wagons so i'd love to find one someday.

Nah definately keeping with the Kingswood front! The grille will be changing to HZ as that is all that you can buy new.
Some more pics including the original purchase documents etc.
New carby will be ordered next week! The one on it works fine but should be in a museum.

Have you got the pre-delivery certificate for this anywhere, or the service book??
Keen to see if my dad did the work on it.. he did his apprenticeship and worked at Attwood Motors back in the 70s, and used to do a fair few pre-deliveries. He worked there up until about the late 70s (I think, or early 80s) when he started his own workshop in North Perth :D

i kinda see her point though, no house improvements in 4 years and spent close to 40k on car mods (almost 30 on the torana alone) haha

Haven't re-advertised but would be nice to start looking for a new sedan for the mrs... shes over driving a "big" patrol.
So now open to swaps on VR/VS Statesman, R33 Auto 4 door, other luxo/reliable 4 doors.
I even have the paint to touch the sils up, the missing badges, side strips, factory T400 shifter, premier front seats and a few other things.

Venetians are a classy touch. I get brand new repro ones from a mob over east called 'Autocables' and they seem to fit pretty well.

Put 12 months rego on it, fitted a gear reduction mini starter, done the heater tap, done the shock mount, rewired the battery terminals and fixed the ignition switch.
Took her out for a cruise with my brother today, few pics below! Keen eyes will notice the venetian is out, wasn't happy with the repro one so repairing an original.
