Several weeks ago I purchased an AVC-R off evil2 from these forums, I believe his name maybe Aaron Hunter. The unit was sold to me after I confirmed numerous times that it was fully functional, but upon installation I found it to be faulty. I have made several attempts to contact the seller by these forums, the skyline forums, his email, his facebook and a number I believe to be his mobile and have not received a single reply for 2 weeks now. I was wondering if anyone on here knew this person and whether there is any reason for him to be out of reach for so long, I am very keen to return the AVC-R and get my money back. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
looks like hes been online within the last week looking at his profile

I have been checking daily to see if he has signed in, he replied to my very first message but has since ignored all the other ones I've sent through many different means of contact. I'm having enough fun trying trying to organise things for my car to get the yellow sticker off, I don't want to have to worry about whether or not I now have a $300 paper weight.

In what way is it faulty?
Unfortunatley its Buyer Beware in these instances.
If you want somthing to work buy it new, or take the risk (and understand its a risk!) and buy it used.
Whos to say you didn't wire something up wrong and cause the fault yourself?
Im not saying that this behaviour is warranted (ripping of the local community) but it is a used electrical item, with no warranty at the end of the day!

Yeah....Nah I reckon that's crap. The amount of times I confirmed it was working with him, plus for him ko now ignore my calls and messages tells me he knew it was fucked. Even if he didn't I feel his has an obligation to honour his claim of it to be fully functional, or have to refund the product as it is not what I was told I was purchasing.

When power is run to the display unit, it just lights up all blue with a very faint out line of what should be displayed. No Apexi start up screen and no other variation in the display, which says to me the screen has had it's day. Got my mate who's a mechanic to install it and check the wiring, but he said the same thing about the screen.
No offence but if you have his address why are you wasting time with a thread on here.
Rock up with a couple of mates, knock on door.

LCD screens Fail all the time, a slight votage spike can be enough to damage them.
i stand by what I say, It could very well have worked, and then not when you went to use it.
As for not answering your calls? Well I wouldn't either, thats the risk you take.

I was hoping to contact him before hand in case it was a simple lack of communication, not very polite to rock up to someone's house with people before the seller is even aware of what's happening. I will just have to remove the kit and go around to his house unless I reach him first, just a warming to anyone out there who may purchase off of this person and have the same trouble as I did.

+1. Quickest way to sort something out is to go round and sort it out.
Good luck, I'd say that while it sucks for you getting a broken bit of gear it's the risk you take with 2nd hand parts. Unless you can prove it was fucked when he sold it to you I'd say your not going to get anywhere mate.

The mechanic is a mate of mine and did it for substantially cheaper than an auto sparky would, but by the way it seems to be disfunctioning I'd say it is hooked up properly, its just rooted.

You just said again. Its cheaper to pay your mate then an auto electrician. You took a risk that did not fall in your favour. Its shit i know.
Borgz, how do you know that the seller knew it was stuffed? You are assuming.
Gurney, i agree with you that he should be in contact with you to discuss this situation but if he still claims that it worked fine what can you do. For all he knows you could have dropped it. Think of the situation from his shoes.

If that is the case then why has he chosen to avoid all forms of contact?
Surely a chat explaining his side of the issue would be the correct way to resolve the problem?

I agree with Tyson on this one.
Several times I have had people return parts to me saying they aren't working even thought they were working fine when removed from car.
The kind of person I am I refunded their money but it has begun to get a little old so I will think twice before doing it again.
I have been frustrated with this and similar situations so I barely answer calls from numbers that are not in my phone.
And emails, and fb posts etc?
Looking at evil2's posting history, and knowing the mechanic who did the work, I would side with Gurney on this one. I have never met him so I am not being biased here.
There is a case of buyer beware, but if you are blatantly lied to many times over that is pretty low.

We have only herd one side of the story though mr Tomislav!
There are three sides to every story as we all know! Gurneys Side, evil2's side and the truth!
until the other two sides are known, or evil2 replys here, then I dont see how anyone can take sides!

might not be ideal, but you should SEE something working before you buy it.
I've sold 3 electronic items on here, an iPhone, a PS3 and a HTPC, and I wouldn't of let anyone take any of them without first showing them the items working. Just to cover my own butt.
If they've seen the item being used and then still agreed to buy it, anything after that isn't your problem.
In saying all of that, I still feel sorry for you and hope you work it out.
YOUR MATE
06-09-2011, 04:37 PM
It is a shitty situation, sure, but like others have said if you didn't see it working prior to purchase then you can only really blame yourself. When spending your own money you shouldn't count on someones word being honorable. Now go get a gearbox and put it on his doorstep.

06-09-2011, 04:51 PM
Tough luck mate. Sometimes saving a couple of hundred isnt really worth it. Yeah its pretty low for him to tell you it works if he knew it didnt but maybe as far as he was aware when it came out of his car it worked. which means by the time it ended up in your car it might have been dropped a few times left for a while etc.Hope it works out for you and you get some sort of re-imbursement because ive been in your situation before. But i doubt it

I have a gearbox, possibly still full of oil that you can have to achieve this if you like! Also have an engine you could use too, feel free to have them.
Hope you get your money back, I would be asking for it back myself but I would also want to have seen it working first. Straight to his house - fuck being civil if he has been ignoring you like he has!

Buyers beware honestly..
I have even gone to the extent of giving people to fix something that hs died on a car I sold Afew days before.
But after i brought a car for 8k that had a bottom end knock when I got home, and I asked previous owner for 1000k back to repair engine and he refused and told me tough luck. Honestly don't trust no one selling anything.
Makes sense when he started it cold and asoon as we got back from drive he turned it off straight away.
