Hey guys, thanks for feedback previously on "low oil pressure", much appreciated but the fun doesn't end there.

Peculiar problem now for the R32Gtst, after driving for a while during the day and stopping and starting at different locations, i will notice on like the 3rd or 4th time i start the car while its still warm it will idle reallllly rough. Making the car sound a little like WRX. I kno this cant be good.

I have had a look, thought it could be dying AFM but tested another one and it still did the same thing, changed the plugs to some platinum ones, still the same. My saving grace is that it only happens after warming up a little so if the problem comes and goes i am hoping it is something quirky and not something seriously engine killing.

Opinion has the problem placed at possibly one of the coil packs is acting up after some heat? I dunno if that is a good diagnosis? thoughts?

If this is the problem, where would the best place be to pick up a coil pack for RB20DET?

also better to buy new or secondhand?

any such thing as aftermarket performance ones if i am goin to spend the money?

some thoughts would be great, cheers.

yeah could be coil packs there pretty well available from just about anywhere u would by sparkies etc.
another thing i would maybe look at is the crank angle sensor.

Your car sounds like a WRX and your complaining?? :D

Ignition is always the first thing to check when the car is idling rough, so check coils definitely.

Does the car misfire when your driving it hard?

Well it seems to be getting worse, meaning that before it used to happen after driving a few times in one day. Now its like after maybe about 15mins of driving. I havent really been pushing it hard since this has been happening but i have noticed mild fluctuations in power at the higher end of the rev range when driving which i will assume is misfiring.

plus lately the smell of the exhaust is much richer, so it does seem like the fuel is burning right. All these observations are from my novice car loving viewpoint.

any ideas on whether a second hand coil pack is a good idea? will it stuff again?

or better to buy new? i am not sure how one would cost new or 2nd hand.

lol i had my car sound exactly like a WRX when accelerating, it had the full burble aswell(and its not turbo) hehe stopped the car on the side of the road and found that one of the leads came off the dizzy making it only running on 3 cylinders.

classic heat kill coil

take ya coil cover off start the engine .... if it will

pull a coil lead off if it gets worse put back on, move onto th enext till you find the one that doesnt make a difference, then you have the culperate. rb20 coils used are $40 new around $220

mail me if you want one

thanks for the good advice Mayhem, i was tryin to figure out the best/easiest way to test without either having to buy a coil or alternatively pullin out a set from my fren's car and try those.

cheers.
