After some advice and recommendations for a HD Video Camera.
Going to Singapore next month so will buy from there or duty free or online depending on price, etc.
After something full HD, good optical zoom, decent amount of storage, with budget around the $1500, give or take a bit.
dont care for a photo/video all in one as i have my DSLR for photos.

I bought my dad a camera for his birthday few months ago. It was a JVC, full HD, 120Gb HDD, but can also take a micro SDHC card up to 32 gigs as well. 30x optical zoom. Paid $950 for it after a decent discount. VERY tiny size, can fit in your pant's pocket.
Will dig up the model number in a sec... he's been very happy with it so far. Does great video.

I use a Kogan, one similar to this: clicky (http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/video-camera-camcorder-10x-zoom-full-hd-1080p/), just older.
It's pretty great for the price. Limited options etc but for point and shoot video its good. I Like the 720p @ 60fps mode.

Buy a DSLR with 1080p video recording capability, get a few lenses to go with it = winning.
Best of both worlds.
