You were using it for the same thing before right? Just point & shoot?

+1 for the shock proof if traveling. Only issue for me is that they have really bad (even for point and click) zooms.

Bought the old man a lumix lx5 last year - it changed the way which I look at point and clicks. Just checked then and you can pick them up for just under $450. If the budget can stretch it is an awesome option.

+1 for these. Dropped mine countless times at work, it's full of iron ore dust and still keeps going.

Pretty much!

Well ended up taking my ixus to Bali, survived that, only to die a horrible death on Sunday night covered in vodka and other spirits.

Time to grab something, will go check these out.
