Mate has just finished building this to hit Powercruise hard then plans for 1/4 mile next season.
Will post more pics later but just got back from Perth seen it running for first start ups , still fat as fuck and needs rear end setup before can be driven but its insane as is and cant wait to see it in action let alone 'shotgun' experience.
SBC 406 Shafiroff crate engine
8/71 blower
Meth & mechanical fuel pump
4 link rear end
Im not all up the exact specs but if you want to know something specific I can find out.
Enjoy the vid :)
I believe Jordan will be shooting it for front cover of PSC soon so I hope he can contribute to this thread :)

I dunno what his random bloody music was , didnt even notice at the time but my camera has a bloody good mic on it !
Does a motor running mechanical fuel pump still need electric as a lift pump ?
Im assuming noise was just thermos.
Its not Thunder , workshop and car belong to S@E Automotive in Welshpool.

KAL SPL

Not entering in skid comps but he deffinately will NOT be shy at Powercruise , rest assured he will be the first person to lose an armband come first day.
If he gives us notice that hes going racing we will make every effort to come down for the night but he wont be down there on a regular basis I wouldnt think.

The guy working for him doing fabrication is a master ! He did the cage in ASTRO and this tonner plus his own VK just to name a couple.
If you are after cages at very respectable prices get in touch with him.
He goes alright with exhausts aswell :p

Does a motor running mechanical fuel pump still need electric as a lift pump ?
Im assuming noise was just thermos.
no, mechanical fuel pump is gravity/vacuum fed from front mounted tank. can set up surge tank style front tank though if you want to cruise the car.
Charger
10-08-2011, 06:58 PM
I'm running a rear cell (Around 150 litres) and a smaller front surge tank (Around 10 litres) in the engine bay, the front surge tank feeds the mechanical fuel pump which is driven by the engine crank and feeds the injector hat.
The front surge tank is topped up from the rear cell by a Magnafuel electric pump, the front surge tank has a return line to rear so it keeps cycling.

I can see an electric 'lift' pump in the pictures, so yes the front tank would be used as a surge tank, there is no way to run a fuel system like whats in it without one.
Unless like you said, rear tank is blocked off and use just front tank and mechanical pump for drags etc.

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x127/KAL_SPL/Cars/DSC01066-1.jpg
the black thing running of the crank in this pic that is supported out to almost touching the radiator looks like the mechanical fuel pump. the big tank at the front on the passenger side appears to be a fuel tank. the pump on the drivers side just next to the head looks like the water pump.
personally, i would prefer a switched fuel pump feeding the front pump, with a float level to operate the pump when it gets below a certain point, and to turn it back off once the front tank is full. less lines and plumbing to potentially leak.
Charger
10-08-2011, 07:19 PM
^ pump is running off the cam, but same/same. Nobody makes a timing cover to suit for my engine so I had to use the crank though.
The float idea is ideal, I had the same idea but with electrical sensors, but after asking around could not find anything suitable for methanol, it's just damn corrosive.

Oh yeah and Daz, do ya know what ignition he's using? I see he doesn't have a mag, just wondering what computer he runs?
Yeah im saying rear tank -> electric pump -> front tank -> mechanical pump -> injector hat.
But could also run just front tank -> mechanical pump -> hat if need be.

ah yep, i understand what your saying now. thought you ment electric feed straight into the fuel system, bypassing mechanical pump.
also, Charger, has a dizzy in the original chevy spot, behind the blower, by the looks of it.
Charger
10-08-2011, 07:46 PM
Yeah I see the dizzy which makes me pose the question on what coil and box he's running. I sold my 6AL and now have a 7AL2 and HVC coil coming, usually a lot of guys run mags but his seems to work well

Make of this what you will but this is the first quick squirt on the dyno to start checking top end mixtures , first and only run at half throttle or so resulted in 500hp increase over the space of 17km/h , reved to around 6k.
Its a bit lean at top end so didnt try push it yet.

Unsure mate sorry , hes 600km away and I just got a text , thought I should share :)
Least the IT isnt lower than the AT like some other proffessional dyno operaters !
I would assume having it idling on dyno playing with mixtures would have heated it up a fair bit.
I wouldnt look to much into the numbers/stats on that sheet given it was purely run to check top end AFRs , kind of shows the storm thats coming though !

If the IT is lower than the AT then that would actually read lower power... It's the professional tuners that have IT much larger than AT to give nice dyno results that you have to watch out for :)
