Just a quick one,
I'm going to rip out all the carpet seats etc to strip weight from my STi for racing,
just wondering if anyone has any good tips for removing the sound deading crap on the floorpan of the cars??

Dry ice in a shopping bag + a hammer.
Enjoy.
Been covered a heap of times.
Dry ice, Hammer for the most of it, then use a bit of petrol to remove the reminants!
Easy done!

yEEP dRY ICE and hammer.
do it section by section, so you do not require lots of dry ice.
let one section harden and move it to the next section while you hammer the hardened part.

I do believe you can get some from BOC. failing that, put "dry ice" into google maps and go to closest one.

dry ice method is effective but $$$$ i done the whole vt with a cold chisel and hammer , in weather like this it will stay together and come up in big chunks , shit job but i got 2 20L buckets worth , other people claim good results with heat gun and scraper

I'd rather slam my nuts in a phonebook than use a heatgun and scraper
How much is a bag of dry ice and would 1 bag last long enough to do the whole interior?

^^ LOL. You'll need a small- to medium-sized esky full, which you should supply yourself else you have to pay for one.
I got my first batch from BOC, and the next from Welshpool Coolroom (just down the road from BOC) as BOC were out. BOC is more expensive per kilo but they couldn't give two shits about being accurate in their weights (I think I ended up with at least double-to-triple what I paid for), whereas Welshpool Coolroom are anal as fuck about their weights and threw the esky up on scales and got it to the +-10g...stingy pricks!

I had to do a small bit that got left behind with a heat gun & scraper. It is the shittest idea ever. Save yourself the misery and spend a few bob on some dry ice. 5kg did most of my FD. Have a few bags so you can have a bag in one area while you hammer another.

I bought 125 bucks worth when I did my whole rex (Can see it in my build thread). Had some to spare, google for fun shit to do with it. Took a whole night to do once car was stripped.

Did the first half of mine in summer with a little spatular/paint scraper. Ended up with lots of blisters and it took a couple of months. Finished off with a wire wheel in no time. Wire wheel flogs whatever paint is under it though and makes bulk mess.
