I have a 12" Woofer for the home theatre. The thing gives the emphisis needed. The bass from proper house woofers travels bulk. Heaps of complaints/confiscation notices taken.
are you selling it dr karl?

How big are you chasing and what sort of wattage? Can do hookups through work, so if you give me a rough idea I can give you some choices. I.e Accusound hd series one sub or Jamo sub 650?
Not after anything in particular tbh mate, just seing whats out there. how many watt are they? The one that just turned inside out on me (litterally) was 188w rms 10" , did the job pretty well so anything above that would be a bonus
edit:
Ok that acusound sub definatly makes my pants tingle, am I looking at the right one here?

Yep that's the accusound sub, have one on demo at work and it absolutely cranks. Can also be wireless if need be. Will pm you with a price other wise I can also get something around the 10" 190w rms no probs. Will pm you with prices on Thursday unless you buy one between now and then.
Sounds good mate cheers,
went into a couple of stores today in the city. Almost walked out with an infinate 300w? from the sony store, then decided to put my 1200 back in my pocket as the more i thought about it the shitter it was. Maybe the way they had it setup im not sure but it didnt give the thump even my logitechs do so im still on the lookout for something.
went in to the audio advice shop across the street and he couldnt really show me anything decent either.

Yeah, just hold out till Thursday then. If you want big then something like this http://www.jamo.com/eu-en/products/sub-650-specifications/ but might be over the top and pretty pricey, mind you still cheaper than $1200! But put it to you this way the Accusound, we have one on demo and had to turn the sub down through the amp because it was overpowering a set of Jamo 608's while it was on minimum. Mind you the Jamo's do have a side firing driver.

mate keep listening to lots of ones because it is soon obvious what is great (Energy/Velodyne/SVS/HSU/DefTech/M&K), whats overpriced (Yamaha/B&W) and whats pretty ordinary (sony/Altec etc)..
if your lookin up to 1200 then check out the Definitive Tech supercube range.. great subs for the buck.. I think Supercube 3 can be had for about $1k ish
and try and listen to the same demo material on each one - Finding Nemo when the kid bangs on the aquarium glass is a great test as it goes down to 18hz and on a good sub sounds fuckin insane!
that plus whatever music you listen to most
Yeah I wasnt planning on spending 1200 on a sub haha, im just shit in sales type situations, i was getting a quote for 2 at one point :s
