View Full Version : I got clear evidence of cops speeding, should I dob them in?

Howdy,
I got gps tagged video footage this morning of cops speeding through Kings Park 40 km/h zone doing at least 60, with no emergency lights on etc.
If they caught me doing that, it would be a couple of hundred bucks fine plus demerits. I really feel like dishing out some of their own medicine.
What do you guys reckon? Good idea? Where do I send the footage to? Can I do it anonymously through crime stoppers? Or some dob in a hoon line? I need to look into this properly lol.
Clearly their act has put my life in danger, bloody hoons!

Call 131444 and make a complaint and follow through with evidence? Or 'anonymously' drop the footage to TT/ACA/YouTube and let it spread like wildfire?
Ryan1080
02-08-2011, 08:43 AM
Might chuck it on youtube first. One problem I have is that I got up to 50 km/h and they were still pulling away, but I was obviously speeding a little for a short moment too. Shit! Anonymous youtube might be the go, their rego and car number is clearly shown on the footage, together with the date, time and location lol.

i reported a cop car for hooning last weekend after the pingpingpingping lane split me and another car with no lights or indicating or anything. the most outragous driving i have ever seen.
i got no where with it by talking to the police, basically said they can do what they want, so speeding will be nothing to them.
so if you have footage, stick on youtube and send to ACA, it will get more milage than i got.

You should be able to save the clip from that software? And you might be able to render it to a more user friendly format as well.. See what you come up with but if you don't have the software to save it then throw the file up on mediafire or whatever so someone with a program like Sony Vegas can render it for you then upload it back for you to put on the t00bz.

I went up to 50 for a couple of seconds, then pulled back to 40. I wouldn't say 'as guilty', even at 50 they were pulling away quite a bit, they then disappeared. I was going there to pick up a mate from Synergy park, he said he saw them drive past about two minutes before I got there, so they were speeding all the way.

The footage is recorded in mp4 format, so no problem uploading that. But in order to see the speed I need to play it back with the software. The footage itself doesn't show the speed, just time and date. Never mind, I found a few trial versions of software that records something that displays on the computer screen. Will play around with it later on today.

I say go for it, send it in.
I've had someone turn right from a left hand lane in a dual lane roundabout on me (Burns beach/Joondalup drive) and obviously nearly cause me to T bone them, I always have a sneaking suspicion that some idiots will do it so I avoided it, however there was a police car behind them when they did it, I looked at them and threw my hands up as if to say "Well you're going to let that one slip are you??" and they just gave a blank stare and continued onto McDonalds in Joondalup. I did go and inform police of it but they said they'd look into the matter....
I bet they didn't.

Reality is....
Hoons and speeders are more important to them than catching thieves doing break ins. 'Too hard basket'.
I rang up to file a report about my car being broken into and got sent from one cop to another til someone could be 'bothered' to take the report, then got promptly told 'we don't waste our time on these things because there is so many of them, sorry'.
I've only met a few cops I have respect for. Majority seem to prefer the power trip. /csb

Not true. They don't need emergency lights on to be exempt from the traffic act, but they do need a reason to.

Not true. They don't need emergency lights on to be exempt from the traffic act, but they do need a reason to.
Did you see where they went?
I started following them from West Perth on Colin St, onto Kings Park Rd, turning into Kings Park, then down all the way to Synergy Park where I caught up with my friend. They didn't seem to be in any sort of emergency-spec hurry, we were crawling behind a truck doing 10 kays an hour for a while, they could have overtaken if they were in a hurry, there was plenty of opportunity to, but they didn't. Looked more like a patrol...
If they have a reason to, then I guess they have nothing to worry about. What was that news story from few weeks back, one of them got flashed going 7 kays over on Mounts Bay Rd, and they tried to falsify a reason not to get stung with a fine, but it backfired...
I've seen pingpingpingpings set up speed traps on that very road, flashing people going a tad bit over 40, what's good for the goose, is good for the gander farken...
Fozzy
02-08-2011, 03:14 PM
So you committed the offence to film the offence and you want to send a video of yourself committing said offence whilst filming said offence awesome logic.. Why dont you submit the video of 90% of road users doing the exact same thing every time you drive?
If you get caught for speeding its just bad luck think of all the times you get off. Give and take I say.. We all know the rules and we all break them. Ive been let off with speeding more than once because I presented the right attitude when questioned. Gotta take the good with the bad.
If a copper gets flashed/red lighted etc etc they get the fine just like you and I do and if they cant justify it they have to pay it plain and simple. As someone else pointed out.. If they try and lie they usually get caught out.. Every now and again you just got to let things go through to the keeper. There is much more important things in life to worry about..

To be honest it happens all the time, It was just that once that an enforcer of the law (4 of them) happend to see it and did nothing. Still amazes me that people can do it even with the painted arrows and signs everywhere yet they put themselves in harms way that could result in death, however I'm even more amazed the police turned a blind eye...

Doesn't work like that in the WAPOL. Simply making a complaint will bring all sorts of drama for those involved, contrary to what anyone on here claims about it being ignored. You're either dobbing someone in that broke the law or you're dobbing someone in that was carrying out their duty as allowed under legislation. It doesn't matter what the situation was though, they are still going to go through the drama of being questioned and investigated even if they are innocent. Consider that before you decide to make a complaint. Also, unless you were in possession of a certified speed reading device and have been trained and authorised to use it, eat a bowl of penises :D
Having said that, if they were in a TE vehicle, dobs the pingpingpingpings in.

fourseven
02-08-2011, 08:18 PM
You mean when cops are doing their job? They aren't there to be friends. If anyone has been treated unfairly, there are plenty of options for making a complaint. I'm not suggesting he shouldn't dob them in, but making some enquiries about what they were doing is a better idea than just accusing them of breaking the law and moving forward with a complaint.
S133LTR
02-08-2011, 08:33 PM
Dude i wouldnt dob them in either, but I can not see how accusing them of breaking the law without understanding what they are doing and it causing them grief is any different than cops who accuse people of breaking the law with regard to mods with out any technical knowledge which inturn creates grief for that person is any different.. Other than the cops are 'on the clock'..
I realize if they have a reasonable suspicion that your car is unroadworthy they have a duty to send you for inspection.. part of my point is we have all met police that simply do not have the abilty to make a reasonable judgment in that regard because they do not have the technical knowledge.. just like the op doesnt have the abilty reasonably judge why they were driving in the way they were.. other than..a biased opinion.. some of them do it to us.. some of 'us' will do it to them. If they were in the right with regard to their driving they have nothing to worry about.

My car's GPS recorded speed is on the top of the screen. As you can see he is still pulling away when I'm doing 50, then he slows down when he squeezes in between the bicycle and oncoming car, before speeding off again and disappearing.

Legally all citizens have a job to obey the law whether you are police or not. You should report them as you would any other criminal act.
Whether they lose there job or not is a question of ethics, do you think the police question the ethics of yellow stickering a car that has bigger brakes, stronger seats, etc etc? No, they always say it doesn't meet the regulations, the written law.

The fuck the police attitude does wear abit thin after a while in my opinion.
Ive owned modified cars for the best part of my driving life and have played up just like everyone else. Yet I still have a clean licence. Sure Ive copped a couple of yellows and what not.. But fair enough.. Shit happens I know I had illegal un approved mods.
You deal with it an move on.. There is some fuck head coppers out there and I have experienced that side of it aswell. However my interactions with Wapol have generally been good. Ive even been let off by TEG before.
I also know if I called the police for something I would want them to show up as soon as possible.. If the did 70 in a 40 zone to do so good on them.

to be honest i don't have much sympathy for them, i'm sure most of us have been in a situation where we've been targeted by the cops despite doing nothing wrong and given a yellow sticker etc, i've literally been pulled over several times and heard 'fucking jap crap' or something similar as they walked up, you know your in for trouble then
agreed that not all of them are pingpingpingpings but they treat us unfairly enough that they don't deserve to be let off the hook on something like this.
agree on the shitty job etc but it's still no excuse to treat someone like shit even when they're being polite and done nothing wrong from the start.
the times i've done something wrong and been done for it i've copped it on the chin and not given them cheek though but it's frustrating being targeted for driving a modified vehicle when they'll overlook someone speeding in a camry just to pull over someone doing the speed limit in a modified car.

No, I'm not a cop. I'm only on the defensive when muppets in the "car scene" get together and dream up stories and attempt to persuade others about what can and can't happen. I've only ever tried to clear things up on here and bring a little bit of truth to discussions... I've had plenty of run-ins with WA's finest, for matters far worse than a yellow sticker or a couple of traffic infringements. Truth is, most Police couldn't give a fuck about car enthusiasts or someone going over the speed limit a little. They get instructions at the start of a shift which usually includes a certain amount of traffic duty, and more often than not they don't get time to even think about doing it. Labelling all cops as traffic nazi's with a chip on their shoulder is the same as labelling all car enthusiasts hoons... it's just not true.

BUT where the fuck were they when my shit gets broken into, or my next door neighbour gets bashed and robbed at home, WHER THE FUCK ARE THEY THEN!!!!!, when my patrol got borken into I ring the police line and get some chick telling me that they wont come out cause its not "viable" I read that as they cant make any money from that crime.... bet if I pulled said patrol out and perfomred burnout in my street cops would be there in 5 min to arrest me ......IMO they are still fucking dogs

pingpingpingpings need to simmer the fuck down, the whole 'Fuck the Police' thing is retarded. They do their job by in large to the best of their ability, none of them are perfect neither are you.
They went a bit over the speed limit, who gives a fuck?
and none of us have ever gone over the speed limit

Not the end of the world bro, If you feel hard done by for losing a few points and a few dollars then you really need some perspective.

Can you suggest the correct perspective?
As far as I'm concerned, a dude wearing a uniform is no more excused from the law than I am, provided he is not driving anywhere in an emeregency (which most likely this guy wasn't).
Everyone is equal under the law, put that into your perspective!

Maybe I'm alone in my view on this sort of shit, but I just fail to see why this is even an issue.
If I saw them do something more sever, like a beating or something - yes I would deem it necessary to make a fuss about it - but driving over the speed limit?
I've been done for plenty of yellow stickers and fines, but life goes on. I couldn't give less of a shit about being equal under the law for something so fucking trivial.

Wish more cops had an attitude like that over something so trivial as speeding...
Ah well :(

Covered the Road Traffic Act early in Law School and had to do an assignment on it years ago and one question that was curiously asked in a tutorial (relevant to the assignment) was, do cops always have to have their lights and/or sirens on when they speed?
Answer was no and from what I remember, basis is as long as it was while they're on duty and attending a job or whateverthefuck the name was used, it's not necessary to for them to have their emergency lights and/or sirens on.
Things may have changed from 2006 but yeah, it's been answered but if a complaint regarding something of this circumstance was ever to be made without knowing if they had a feasible reason in doing so, it will go nowhere.

Last two times I've called the police..
Assault - Response time 2 hours 40 minutes
Theft - Response time 4 months
Police station is literally less than 5 minutes walk from where these calls were lodged.
Whilst I recognize these are not emergency calls I honestly doubt the poolice in Ryan1080s post were in a hurry to go anywhere except McDonalds.
