In an effort to improve connection stability of certain players I'll be trialling fixed room ownership. There are some pros and cons however. This type of room may increase lag and can only be done in a public (open) lobby. On the plus side connection stablity should improve for those with dodgy connections and I'll also have 'kick' privledges to boot players on a whim.

If the room turns to an unplayable lag fest we'll return to the traditional lounge setup.

***********

Driving standards: You will inevitably be punted during the evening (from accidents or lag) but 'revenge' punts just breed more shit driving.
Keep it clean. Even if you think you've been hard done by. Keep it clean.

DETAILS

- From about 8:30pm onwards

Eligible cars

> Any car 630PP* or less
> Any car 550pp* or less
> Any car 450pp* or less
> Any car 350pp* or less with comfort soft tyres.
> And the usual one make stuff from the 'Recommended' arcade car list.

* You can de-tune cars in your personal garage for online racing by adjusting the Power 'slider' control if your car creeps the PP limit.

Driving Standards

Some drivers are obviously faster than others but we're all racing for fun so boost is turned on to keep the pack together.

> Give each other racing room. No other pushing or ramming other cars off the tarmac.
> If you accidentally push or hit a competitor off the track, slow and let them re-pass you to address the situation (apologising via your headset will also help).
> If you deliberately push or hit a competitor off the track, you won't be invited back.

For how to join and connection troubleshooting CLICK HERE (http://www.antilag.com/forums/showpost.php?p=818220&postcount=2).

See you all tomorrow.

We tried the fixed room hosting last night on OCAU, the host does need phat bandwidth for a full field to avoid cars "pulsing" but if you have that it seems to work fine although it didnt stop me from getting disco'd :(

Something is fucked and im fairly sure its not my net setup but i'll try a few things anyway if i can get on

When you do manage to start a race with us your car glitches and jumps around the track.

Are you running wireless?

I don't want to run the risk of lag in a fixed room setup if you're going to get disco'd anyway.
I don't like lag.
I'm antilag.

I thought the connection was pretty good/stable last week, I think it was only supraboi and Sciflyer that were having issues really.

havnt changed anything in my setup which has up til lately been fine - wired connection, DMZ, etc

Coupl eof times ive caught the g/f watching youtube or streaming shit while im trying to race but even when any other networked devices are turned off i would still disco

im online with GT5 3 or 4 times a week and i only seem to have trouble when im on a server with say more than 10 cars...its like its some kind of bandwidth issue.... fuck knows....

Had three DC's at the start then it was perfect for the rest of the night.
Thoroughly enjoyed the racing last night, missed the last couple due to connection issues.

Had some great battles with Vy,Sv and Sci. I dont think GTP like me very much though :( even though my driving was quite good i thought, well once i stuck to the G37 or Citroen rally car at least.

You must have a Telstra T-Box in the kitchen? Regardless, how fucking dare she!

Not bad for a bit of fun, but I was on GT5 since 430pm so was a bit over it by the time it came around.. Haven't raced at the Ring in aaaaaages! Can't believe I had an 8 second lead there, tyres started turning to mud and that lead was quickly diminished..

G37s peel out!

yeah that was a massive lead, my tyres were going off so it was taking forever to catch you, then i spun... urrrrr

final straight shenanigens were pretty lol

Those G37s look hideous but sound and handle nice

from my point of view it was pretty shit. now that i have commitments early on friday mornings i dont get to stay untill a few drift off and we are left with 10 or less cars... i find once theres only around that many it really cleans up. i was raging hard at a few people who clearly give up being clean.

sciflyer i was having issues with you early on, it was lagging and jumping around, but as the night wore on your car seemed much steadier and want hopping everywhere.

JAAK was funny as at the Ring, coming 2nd and I could see the car laggnig up on the map going sideways then jumping several hundred metres almost slamming into me then sideways again and several hundred metres back, thought I was going to get ping punted out of 1st spot then he copped d/c or pulled out due to the havoc.

Thanks Sciflyer, I'll give it a go.

Haha yeah JAAK's car made for some good lols in the replay on the Nurb.

He may have more success racing in rooms with less players if he's running vivid wireless.

That 630pp race at Nurburgring GP was brilliant, kinda ruined my chances for the win when i just bumped Miggy off-line at the bottom hairpin halfway through the last lap (then slowed a touch to make sure he stayed in front), needed the momentum off there to have a shot at MGR near the end. But damn, clean tight race at the front, loved it.

450pp Nordschleife race was lol, carnage with those tyres and that track. I'll admit I did start the big one at the end of the first lap on the straight, went for a gap that just opened up...then it started to close, very Nascar style crash
