View Full Version : Evo 7 in-car racing videos: Barbagallo last Sunday
Few videos from last weekend's racing at Barbagallo. The four cars gridded separately at the front are Sports Sedans. The rest including the Evo are from the Street Car Category.

Chop chop chop! But WTF with the falcon you where clearly well past him when he turned in and clipped you, what was he thinking?
How fast has this and the RX7 run around barbs?

WTF is in that 180?
Made itself wiiide in the corners, then pulled like crazy once grip levels rose.
Sports sedan = higher class than street car?
Great driving and interesting to see how short the long track feels when you're watching a talented driver!
Sounds like there was a bit of tyre rubbing after the incident.

gives you some idea of times - I think all of them have been a little quicker than that.
It's not me, just the car. Haven't you heard? Evo's drive themselves.
No idea what the ex DJR Falcon driver was thinking. His right front tyre made contact with my left rear door! It's not like I was in his blind spot and I left him enough room to land a jumbo jet. We hadn't even got to the corner and he just veers right and hit my car. I'm still baffled.
Sports Sedans are purpose built race cars that use the passenger compartment from a road car as the base, but that's about it. They are lighter, use big aero parts, typically are more powerful and run big fat slicks. The 180 in the video runs an RB25 I think (or maybe RB26 now). Being a Sports Sedan the minimum weight would be 1050kg.
Street cars are basically road cars with freedoms around suspension and engine development. Their min. weight is heavier and they use a control street legal tyre. The current control tyre is the Toyo R888 which I estimate to be around a second or so slower than the Bridgestone RE55 used last year. Andrew Steven's 180SX for example did 61's last year on 225 wide rubber - this year doing 63's.

Some good racing on the weekend Mark , on that 1st start i thought you were going to run into the back of Brett
I think that 180 sports sedan had a RB30 bottom end with a RB25 head

WTF is happening to this forum? I was just replying to a few posts and now they've disappeared?!?
Damage was done to the trailing edge of the front door, sill, rear door and quarter panel. Guard rubbed on the tyre for the rest of the race but not too bad.

I do recall it being some sort of Frankenstein spec motor. Cheaper than sourcing an RB26 IIRC.

Who's the bunno folks? Saloons and HQ's can be a little rough but the other categories are usually not too bad.

sounds like the falcon did a bit of damage to your wheel arch, as there was a definate tyre rubbing noise on corners afterwards
awesome footage and as others have said, its clear as to why you rape us all in GT5 haha

Nice driving and nice car. Looked like the driver of the 180 had a battle on his hands just trying to keep that thing straight, but when it was straight it seemed to have plenty of go.
Ford driver needs to get back on the orange bus...
yeah not bad & that falcon driver is a knob for sure.

Not sure if you're keen on telling but how do you get your evo to shift so fast? My revs hang a lot and my shifts probably take about 6-7 times as long as yours do, unless i want to break something.

Lightened flywheel?
^I didn't post that comment up there (#10). Database fail.

I'm running a standard 6 speed, with an ORC 559 twin plate metallic clutch
Lightened flywheel?

Yeah, that was my post. The forum seems to dying.

We use a 5-speed Evo 9RS gearbox, but there's nothing particularly special about it. Like all synchros you still have to press clutch, change gear, release clutch.
Shift times in my RX7 seem similar. 4th to 5th is a little clumsy but considering it's a standard FC turbo synchro box that's to be expected (see 4:00 mark). 3rd to 4th is OK though.
